Because no one has ever made foam that could take that much heat/abuse. Although, a foam Pirelli might actually be an improvement.

Hmmm!

Although, to get good, well manufactured rubber tires may cost more ....

Odd how you can't get good 30mm wide rubbers to do back-to-back tests now-days .......... or can you?
Been out of this racing business so long you may be able to get them now?!

Not Pirelli 3m/Dupont.

Phenomenally low degradation. I wonder how much of what we believe is based on what others profit from. If you think you have the best (foam) I guess it's to hell with the rest (rubber).

Anyone know how long Brushless and Lipo technology has been around?

Sorta of the same way Brushed Motors and Nickel Metal Hydride have been retired. I was told to imagine being able to use the same tires for 10 months to a year, then when you lose a 10th a second per lap rotate the tires then race them for close to another year.

If you ever want to try some rubber slicks that are in the widths that you listed above, try looking at these from Ipanema:

http://www.ipanemasports.com/Pages/10thScaleSlicks.aspx

The link only shows their 10th scale nitro slicks but they do offer 24mm slicks with soft to hard inserts. I have been sent some but have yet to test them out. I know that some were tested at the Leisure Hours track early last year and the testers had good things to say about the ones they tested (I believe they were the medium insert 24mm tires).
