i though you'd have to maitain the 5 tooth difference...... for the clucth you have a 7 tooth difference while in the spur you have a 5 tooth difference... i didn't know that was possible.

Default Body style: Does it really matter?

Right now I'm using the Mazda 6 body, because it was recommended to me by the guys at the hobby shop. Does it really matter? I would like to try some other bodies, like the HPI Porsche GT1, Acura RSX and BMWs. Also, how does the Protoform Dodge Stratus 2/3 compare to the Nemesis?

Thanks!

I experimented over a 3 day race meet last weekend using both the Mazda 6 and the Dodge Stratus 3.1 (both Protoforms).
In my opinion it just felt like the Stratus had that bit more grip into the corners and also thru the high speed sweeper....both bodies are extremely good and it`ll come largely down to personal preference.
Cheers

Its also seems to me (I`ve never measured them) that the Stratus is a fraction longer than the Mazda 6, which I`m guessing creates a larger surface area and more downforce/grip.
Cheers

It worked VERY well. I never felt like I was missing power on the straights. The PR12 just seemed to keep pulling the gear. As for the split, I've never really worried about it as long as the mesh feels ok on both gears.

If you just want to have fun running your car you can use any body you want. I've seen people running a NTC3 with a Hummer body on it at my local track . But if you want to race most racers stay with Mazda 6 or Stratus 3.1

hello guys,

i've had my 1st spur gears machined into bronze alloy to have durability. the guy who's going to machine it said that he can make it as light as the stock one but a little bit heavier. Is this good? Will it affect my acceleration with it being slightly heavier? Or should I stick the stock gears?

I also had my rear shock tower machined into hardened aluminum.

I think you'd be better off using the stock plastic one. Lighter is better. Also if you are in a collision the plastic will give and it's a cheap part to replace while the metal spur will bend your main shaft instead.
