Default 1/8th Nitro Questions.

Hi people

I have some engine related questions that im sure you guys could answer -

Does the conrod have to be replaced every 3 gallons of fuel and how oftern should the piston and liner be replaced? I know this depends on the carb setting and the condtions that the engine is put through but a rough idea would be good.

Do you have to use after run oil or is it a wasted expense?

What is the best way to keep on top of engine maintainence?

What glow plugs should be used with the Mega engines?

Are Novarossi engines the best and worth the money?

Regards

You need to replace the conrod whet it is needed. When you see air-bubbles comming out of the connection its time to change. We normally "read" the conrod by looking at the wear around the big-end side of the conrod.

After run is depending upon fuel and how often you run the engine in a kind of humidity. For the hobbyist I advice to use after run after every day of racing.

Engine maintenance... if you do the 2 points above, there is no need....

Sirio or Orion P7 plugs.

Play is one thing.....With toplevel onroad engines also the material of the rod will become weak or "tired" as we say, that is something you can not see. Thats why most manufacturers advise to change the rod after the first or two liters with the running in and after that with every 5 liter.
