But it's more me needing to upgrade my charger as well as my radio first. (hyperion dual with large power supply and upgrading my 3PM to a 4PKS) That's a grand right there and my monthly budget is only between $300 and $600 per month, so I need a little time.

I'll certainly be picking your brains though. And I am sure that I will be itching to get out there once I see a bunch of other GT's.

Like Pit said, there will be enough GT folks there to provide assistance on how to set up these cars. Racers from Austin are great bunch of guys

I'm sold on the tires. At the track today it was clearly obvious that I was faster with them. For one I could finally hit WOT on the straight. I could accomplish this because I could brake much later as well as carry much more speed through the corner at the end of the straight.

NICE!! Like a whole new car.

Tread vs. slick?

I understand if the track is dirty tires with tread could be better, but what about a purpose built track that is sprayed? Can anyone think of a reason that a treaded tire would be better? I have always used slick, but I have always wondered....

On a prepped track you will want the slicks. They are great on VHT.

There may be a time you need to loosen up the car a bit, or take away some steering. Tires are the best way to do this if your car feels good overall, much better than mucking with the setup.

The slicks are 'bout great on almost everything! We have a racer that uses his treaded tires that are slicks in the middle and still have the treads on the sides on a misty morning and they were HOOKED!

Hey Bassman2 - Where in Texas are you racing. I've got to be in Dallas in a few weeks for a family function and may have some spare time Sunday morning. NOT traveling with RC stuff.

We race every sat. from about 1-5:30ish at the north location of Hobbytown Austin. Track sets up around 9a.m. and there's plenty of track time and spectators around.
