I do not think such an engine will have a long life with bashing on a parking. Running on top speed for about 200 meters is quite normal for these guys....
You want to go fast? Yes, a top onroad engine is the way to go but for sure it is not the best choice. Indeed, some kind of buggy engine, maybe something bigger (up to .28) is already making less revs but making more torque you can use with other gears to make speed.

Engine choice
I have owned my XR8 for a couple of years now, but it is not a parking lot basher.
Pick up a Pico 9, with pipe, dump the stock clutch and use the Mugen clutch.
Pick up a set of Serpent 35 or 37 shore tires, get some decent servos and receiver. Trash the stock body and use either the Kyosho dome body, or the Central body.
There are a lot of options that make this car a very competitive car when set up right. I have changed just about every part on the car to either Mugen,Serpent, of Kyosho, and it will hang with my Evolvas, and my Mugen

Normally I would push Novarossi or RB, but since you want to just bash and play around, get a OS VZR. They are not expensive and run pretty well. I run RB's and NR. They are a bit more pricey, but are damn good motors.
