I run 1/10 touring, but I'm starting to switch over to 1/8. The 1/8 onroad engine price is outragious. $600.00 + for a good engine. I'll probally look at a used or sport engine. And the same engine in buggy fashion is $200.00 less.
But as the Buggy and truggy classes grow; engine manufactures are going to put more technology into those engines and they are going to suffer the same fate as the onroad engine

no doubt it is here to stay...a little proactive discussion could help it grow even more then.

Yeah, I 'm thinking of getting back into onroad (1/8) and the prices of motors are just effin' out of control!
How can a manufactuer expect to make some decent sales with engines that are in the 600-900 dollar range? Thats ridiculous.
They don't even have the option of a lower priced engine except for one or two brands out there.

Here I am trying to get back into onroad (and maybe take some more people with me) and then you do some research on motors and it almost drives me away..especially after buying .21 off road engines for the past 4 years.

I'll probably have to go with one of those picco motors or get a used one..There's just not many options..not good.

It seems to me that an engine manufacturer or builder could offer a sealed spec motor that could be run....It is being done in 1:1 racing. Sure, some guys might still find a way around it, but when they are caught they pay the piper.

Default STATE OF 200MM

If the cost of the engines are making new 1/8th scale drivers give it a second thought, then they really should look at the Pico 21.
I have two right now, a factory modified engine, and one modified by Team Kamikaze.
These motors are just as quick as any other engine out there.
I have Novarossi, 321P engines, kanganaroo engines, and the 35+21 that even though it was brand new, I sold it after running the Pico. All of my "high dollar" engines are cleaned up, and packed away, because now I have no use for them after buying the Picos.
These really are great engines

Onya Solo!
You're on a good wicket with Picco!!!
With the bang for the $$$ why would you even consider a $500+ engine?
