I do not believe other clutches will fit very well on this car, the flywheel in a G4 is 30mm I believe, and I think most other car's flywheels are at least 32mm, I know I have a one piece motor mount for a mtx-3 car and it was 1 mm taller than the G4's, if you run a different brand clutch and flywheel on this car it would probably hang down a little low and rub on the ground or catch on a rcock or something pretty easily, probably best to stick to the G4 or Kfactory brand one.

how about thrust bearing? does the G4 use a standard size thrust bearing that is interchangeable with any other 1/10 onroad nitro cars?

wyl03... The trust bearings are the same size... Just tried the new K1497 UFO Push type clutch for the G4/Mongoose... Wow... The performance difference is like night and day... It's a completely different design and a tab bit larger then the prior TM/K-Factory clutches... One of the better hopups you can by for the serious racer that's wants to be a step ahead of the competition..

Default G4

As a diehard Mugan and Serpent fan for years I got tierd of waiting for the MTX-4 so I got a G4 This car is one of the best cars I've had I liked it so much I got two And the C/G is better then all of them and over all lower then the NTC3 ....... Fast Harry not to doubt you but HPI isn't exactly known for there racing and I have never seen a R40 or any HPI even make a A Main let alone win one at any of the tracks I race at. I do admit the R40 looked like a well layed out car when it came out but It fell short along with HPI engines that seem to lack when it comes to racing

The R40 won the sedan Nats two years in a row. I would not bet against Hara again this year if he competes at the Nats again this year. Of course this is the only HPI car I've ever seen make a A main at any big race. I drive for RD Logics and really like the Mongoose?G4 and have driven for both Mugen and Serpent in the past. I will say all 4 of these are cars are capable if the transmitter is in the right hands.

Well, if you're as tired of the Magic shocks as i am, they're pretty leaky and looses pressure after just a few tanks. Try the TRF flourine coated dampers. I just tried to mount my TRF's and they seem like a perfect fit. To mount them you need the lower shock collar and spring retainer from the G4 shocks and then run Magic springs, Tamiya springs seems like they could fit just as good.
I'll report how they works on the track after this weekend.

For sure.. Hara could kick my ass with a stock rs4. Those factory drivers are just that good. and the fact that I suck.

I have both and the frame is the big difference. I don't like the steering mechanism on the EVO it's way to stiff and has a problem with finding neutral and I think it's responsable for tosting one of my fav. servos I like the Mongoose steering It's a lot better and I'm going to retrofit my 710 steering to the EVO Here are some pics Sorry they are a little dirty they are getting tore down for next week

You can use a threaded shaft engine if you use the C-class three shoe clutch. I have an OS CV in mine.
