dennis, i have one of your motors and it starts up and runs but i cannot get the temp below 329 degrees. blows smoke out of the exhaust for the whole time that i run (20 min main). we took the temp once i finished racing and it was406 degrees. you would think if it is running that high a temp it would be very fast but it ran fairly slow. any help or advice would be nice.

Motorman(Dennis)
Just wanted to let you know I've broke the track record in the last two weekends out with your motor(2 full laps) the closest car to me was 5 laps behind. Thanks for a outstanding piece of work.
See you in a couple of weeks in Cincin.
THANKS

Default Bob:

Check your low end needle, it sounds like you got the low end lean and the top fat. The low end is what you're mostly on while in the infield going from corner to corner and you only go onto the top-end needle for brief moments at wide open. That is why you still see plenty of smoke, but it won't cool down. Try the pinch test on the fuel line just before the carb and if it revs instantly or dies it's too lean, you should get a count of 3 or 4 one thousanths before the idle rises ( do this after engine is warmed and do a good full throttle run and bring it in and do this quickly ). Hope this helps!

I have heard that before (about picco engines in general), can you not use the collect that comes with the engine on the flywheel?
