Serpent Vector

Hi everyone!
To make the story short.. i had a BMT Active 95R for long time ago.. (1997) and my father had a Serpent Vector and he just run to brake it in.. then the car has layed in the store for some years.. 9 years? :) so now my father has given me the car to let me drive because he have no time for the sport :P
so the car is mine now. So i have turned the car apart for cleaning because it doesnt seems so clean to me. I want some hints and tips how i can "tweak" the car.. like options and modifications. i got the standard Mega SX21 EV1 engine. Futaba S9402 Servos, Futaba 3PJ radio.
Im using the Serpent 50W Blue shockoil with standard silverspring for medium suspension. Everything else is standard..
Sorry for my english.. but i hope you guys/girls understand. I got some pictures of the car that you can see if you want. http://umea.mine.nu/~anton/gallery/

Hope someone can help me.

Orfeos:

I have a ton of parts for that car new and used parts, from chassis to shocks, let me know if you are interested and i can give you a great deal on everything i have ,PM me and ill give you a list of what i have for that car...

Orfeous 03-14-2006 08:39 AM

M7h, yes i know.. thanks :D
Have been out in my store now and cleaned chassiplate, bumper, and the whole rear package, and some other parts :)

I read that i should use a sandpaper and sand the surface under the engine mount brackets to get a better contact with the chassi material to make the heat from engine spread little better.

we will see how to do..
do you have that monoblock?
what radio and receiver are you using? and what battery charger?
is that connected to a power supply or are you charging from a car battery?

i have compared 2000 version with 97-99 version.
i saw that the point where frontshocks are mounted are little different.
then i didnt see anymore.. didnt compare them in detail

Yes, on my 950R

what radio and receiver are you using?
Graupner XS6 "synthesizer"

and what battery charger?
a simple Robbe multi charger 6

is that connected to a power supply or are you charging from a car battery?
Plugged in the wall on 230V

That's about it, and the 2000 is aproxx. 6mm smaller on the rear tyres.....

Orfeous 03-15-2006 01:20 PM

ok, what will the differneces be if i install a monoblock to my engine instead of the original two blocks?

Nice that you have a charger that you can connect to the 230V wall.. :P
seems that i must get an power supply from any manufactuer i dont like to always carrying a car battery everywhere.

i have a TEKIN BC112A

Ah, okey then i have found the differences.

I have no shocks mounted at the rear now.. and i tryed to flex the both sides.. it seems that the right side is lifting higher than the left side.. (view from front) is this normal or is it a setup issue?

How do i put in the driveshaft in the front? :) i just cant get them in haha..
what part must be removed?

i also found 3 screws that i dont know where to put.. i have reassembled the car.. and those screws are over.. hmm.
picture of them here... http://umea.mine.nu/~anton/gallery/m...&g2_itemId=372

Then you also buy one, they are not expensive....

If you have the right set-up tools, you can eliminate these kind of problems.....

If you unscrew the front bearingblock on the top or bottom side, this must I believe give you enough space to get them in....

Haha, nice......
But I have no idea......

i have found a better charger than i have.. i have TEKIN BC112A
https://www.teamtekin.com/Manuals/BC112_96.pdf

the problem with that charger is that it only can handle NiCd batteries... but if i do an upgrade to software it can handle NiMh also.

so i think i will go for another charger instead.. that includes all kind of types batteries. Swallow Advance, it also got disscharge feature..
http://www.batterieswholesale.com/ba...ry_charger.htm

what do you think about that?

i found a power supply at 5A is that ok or is it little?

ok, what do you mean with "right setup tools" ?
ok, i will try to unscrew that parts :D
my order has comed today :) my new shockmembranes with foam inside :D
and the yellow springs and the pipemuffler mounting spring and silicon fuel lines (orange).

The strange is that the screws looks very shining.. they look nearly unsused.
i cant find that kind of screws in the manual either. i have looked at the car and searched for holes that have no screws but i cant find.. hm..

If it charges your batteries, it is good...... :D

Ride height gauge, droop gauge, set-up system....
check:
http://www.hudy.net/flash_stuff/all_in/onroad/index.htm
and the in the 1/8 scale section......

Orfeous 03-16-2006 12:45 PM

ok, i will go and buy that..

my friend has a setup system that i can borrow.. :P

Orfeous 03-29-2006 12:29 AM

i have now charged my RX and TX batteries with my new charger! it works wonderful! its so easy to manage.. just one button and you is charging hehe..
no hard menu's or something like that.

i putted the batteries in their places and turned all switches on and it worked :) hehe.. i'm impressed.

The thing i must do for the summer is to buy a new body.. a Lola
because it have better downforce than the porsche body.. but the porsche body is faster on long straights.
but i dont know what color to paint it :) it will be easiest to paint it one color.
maybe i should try our old airbrush :D

dont know if i told you that i found a swedish guy that was still competing with his Vector 97-99' :) so it seems it isnt just S960's out there.. :P but we are few with the vector :D

Orfeous 04-17-2006 05:26 PM

i cant understand why there are no old Serpent Vector drivers out there :P

someone should at least have been driven a vector?
i have no to talk with about it.
