What tape do you use?

What tape do you use, on the inside of your buggy/truggy body? How does it hold up?

I seen some Gorrila Tape, and was thinking about trying some of it.

Thanks,

What tape are you reffering to? The one used so the exhaust doesnt ruin the paint job?

Edit: Forgot to post a link http://www.amainhobbies.com/index.ph...at-Shield-Tape

All it is, is aluminum heat sheild tape

Yeah Jeff, what ever people use to keep paint from rubbing off as quickly.

I used to take aluminum foil, and tape it on using duct tape. Cheaper and it works. But I havent been doing that lately. 3 folds is plenty
Might do it for the new bodies, I have.

B0, the losi tapes works really good on the sides of the body where the mud guards rub.

Home depot and get aluminum HVAC tape a big imean big roll is about $15.00, the same stuff as Kyosho heat shield tape and the roll is 1000 bigger.

I prefer High Temp silicone for protecting the inside's of my body's vs the heat tape.....ive seen that stuff melt before and peel the paint off with it.

That doesn't wash off with fuel either does it?

losiracer78 01-29-2010 07:42 AM

shoe goo or a high temp silicone works the best then put heat tap over that where the pipes at to help keep some of the heat off the body

pickle311 01-29-2010 07:51 AM

Shoe goo

Integra 01-29-2010 08:04 AM

Ive seen ShoGoo peel off paint which is why i prefer the silicone.

I do stage production and I have always used gaffers tape. It has a matt finish, it is cloth, it leaves no adhesive when removed, stays on even after washing, available in many colors and has many uses.

None. I just put stickers over damaged paint :)
Whats the point reflecting the heat back inside the car with aluminum tape.

I did a test on painted body clippings between shoe goo and the Permatex high temp silicone nick is talking about. The shoe goo did peal the paint off while the silicone did not. Just spread it like butter over fiber sheetrock tape. and you'll be fine.:)
