What Engine is Best? .21 for Buggy
#17
For that kind of money you could get 2 Novarossi +4's and a Dynamite 053 pipe.
If you don't allready know which $500 engine is best for you, chances are you really don't need a $500 engine. It's not like a good $300 Nova, RB, OS is really any slower.
With a $600 budget, that sounds more like two engines to me.

Great Insight, Thanks so much. I am surprised no one likes RB. I am really leaning that way. Os has my eye, but I have access to more RB stuff.
It really seems to come down to personal preference. When you buy a high end engine they all seem to perform. Thanks

there is alot of motors that are good
i have run alot of them performance wise the os speed hara addition is unmatchable but at the price of durability
now my first .21 was a nova p5x it has 21 gallons of fuel through it andn with the flyweel off it wont turn over by hand still and runs perfect just like when it was new best part of motor is by the time you learn how to tune a nitro motot the p5x will be just getting into running order true break in takes about 5 gallons with a good nova after that it is run run run only motor i will use for practice and club racing it always starts and always runs. pipe for it is o86 or os 2050 or jp3 but it will not get great run time with that pipe

rb is not good idea i think they can be a hand ful especially for tuning. think you should go with one of the following os vspec with os 2050 but that motor if handled wrong will not last to long. grp tuned engine they are stupid fast and will go 10 + gallons if buy promo kit off ebay only like 320 that is with the pipe

Yup, the Novarossi P5 is a good motor. You know it's good when there are so many different versions of it and it's been around for a long time. It's a good balance of power, reliability, and price. Good motor for you to start out with too.

+1 on the Novarossi N21 Limited! Cant go wrong with novarossi quality!
But I would reccommend the RB S3 with TTR2035 pipe $215 total!
Good power, RB reliability, and great run time!
Its a place to start, then you can move up to a Nova P5 or a GRP level engine!

Out of the two you are interested in I would pick the RB ten times over the SPEED.
Since you're new though I would suggest you look into a cheaper motor.
It would suck if you kill the c6BBT in two gallons because you tuned it wrong.

You don't necessary have to pay $500 for the Vspec II. I got one for about $460

however, if you are new to this hobby, don't get an expensive engine. You won't be able to use the power. Also, don't get RB or NovaRossi, they are harder to tune. I would say get a OS Vspec or Ninja JX 21. OS based engine is much easier to tune compared to Italian mill in general

I am always amazed at everyones replies about the rb motors. I have a c6 bbt l2g and love it! I really have never had a problem tuning it. While I am new to .21 size buggies and rb engines, I am not new to nitro. I fly planes and used to run on road nitro cars.
The rb has tons of power, requires a smooth throttle but is not "too much" to handle in a buggy. Go with the C6. It's a great engine.

I just want to clarify that I am not new to nitro, just to the nitro racing scene. I have had low end engines that would not hold tune and unreliable. That is why I am going more high end. I want something I can grow with.
I have the money now to do this so I tend to buy a little more than I may need and grow with it.
I had not looked at Novas so I will do that. I can not tell you how much I appreciate the input. Any other comments and suggestions are welcomed.
