Please let me know ... keep in mind i am a newbie with a cl-1 advanced kit so im new to tuning... I do see that alot of rtr s have .28 engines but i think i just want a 21 ... since i think it has higher rpms and is better on fuel ... any input is really would be great .. thanks
I have owned the OS VG and Nova BF. Both engines were great IMO. The OS is very easy to tune and once I got the Nova BF tuned it ran great. I'm curious what bad things have you heard about the OS VG?

IMHO, bang for your buck the STS motors are pretty good. For $175aud i got a STS D12E and i was just as fast as the guys running RB's and O.S. A good clutch set up is important though no matter what brand motor your running.

Then i got the D30M for my buggy and it's a monster, it's not race legal as i don't race off road only on road but for $270aud it was a sweet deal. I'm sure their .21 would be even cheaper.

A lot of my mates use O.S speeds in their buggy's which they race and all of them complain about how quick the rods get slop in them and the rear bearings failing but that's their experiences not mine.

If it was me that was buying a new "race legal" motor then i would get a Nova if i could afford it Their reputation is among the best and have countless tittles to it's name and because i've never owned one i would love to put one through it's paces

Ive been running nitro the better part of ten years, these engines are far from what i would call easy to tune. I love the powerband of the 7port i just cant live with the unreliability
then thats your tune or somethin bud, i got both my go motors used and i loved the .21 5 port until the case cracked and seized. but before that i never had an issue and it ran great.

not trying to dis on one certain manufacturers engine but those hyper .21 8 ports have issues for sure . seen many of them trying to run and they get hot very easy and finicky to tune . i have also seen a few of them rock . when you buy novarossi you get quality in every engine if you really wanted an engine , you would have bought the one that 75% of the racers have suggested on your thread
