engine choices on truggy + maintenance

GO 5 port is great, you need to get the optional hard coated crank to help with longevity, at this point the 5 and OS last the same, the OS has a bit more on top but are about the same on bottom, the OS i feel is more linier the GO is abrupt, tunning seems to be easier with the OS IMO. But both are strong.

right now im leaning towards the go .21 3port, I like the looks of it and its a little cheaper then the 5port(i wanna get the dx3r so cheaper is a little better lol). ive ran both engines before and they preform similar just a little more bottom on the 5port but i have a 6mm restrictor anyway in it so it tones it down.
So with a Go .21 3 port/086 pipe.........
Now what kind of maintenance do i need to do? I got this used so i dont know the history. It has all kingshead upgrades and also the shocktowers.
Im going to replace the front/rear diff cases because those seem to strip alot since they have screws being takin in and out a lot.and im doing all the bearings. What about the driveshafts(dogbones/outdrives what ever u wanna call them lol)?

depends on how you drive...my buddy/teammate gets @9min per tank running the fuel hog jp-3 on his spec as for the go it's a great motor for the truggy as far as the power but between the two money permitting I'd get the spec..ease of tune and more power throughout. and as Brian stated the go is quite abrupt on the bottom with less top, the spec is just a beast all the way through

well before my motor blew due to an airleak, my go 5port would keep with any vspec out at our track. when i went to the nitro pit its a more of an open track i was pullin from people all day

The new V-spec has been really good, I am runnin one in buggy and truggy, super easy to tune, good power, Go is a good engine, but I always seem to chase the tune on them? I run the OS 2050 2060 pipes and they average about 8 min on a tank, The new ones, Have about 2-3 gallons on them, and are still a bit fat, I should be able to lean them out a bit more next race, and get close to the 10 minute mark.

The go's are fast don't get me wrong...mine ran well on an os 2050 pipe I could keep up with and sometimes blow by specs. But I believe the ease of tune of the os and the slight better top(when properly tuned) makes the spec a better choice. I personally like both but I was forced to chose I'd go for a spec because well it fits my tuning capabilities better and I like the way the perform( i once had a vspec as well about a year ago)

I suggest you go with the OS engine. I find their quality is impecible not another cheap Taiwanese knock-off. This forum is littered with Go engine "team" drivers that are always going to say to buy the Go engine. I've run both and the Go engine is decent, but it's not even in the same galaxy as an OS engine. Flame suit on.

I say go .25 in truggy
