I'm looking for opinions on a new motor. I pretty much have it narrowed down to a go tech 5 port or a o.s 21 vz-b v-spec. some friends at my track told me the go tech doesn't have the longevity. I'm still pretty new so the power isn't the most important since I'm still learning to control the mach 427 (bearing started to leak reason for new motor) that came in my losi. I would prefer easy tuning and longevity. My friend is vey happy with his o.s. Thanks for any advice

the Go engine will out last the OS if you care for it properly...i have owned two vspecs one modded one stock, and i am much happier with the Go engines...i have the 21-5, 21-7, 28-6, 18-3 and plan to get the 21-3 race when its released...

I used a .21 7 Port (Turbo Plug) in my 8ight B and I love it. Great power band and easy to tune. I'm selling the 8ight B, but once my 8ight T shows up I'm dropping it into the truggy. OS are also awesome engines, however they are more expensive. It's a tough choice...

I had a V-Spec in my buggy and ran it all year and never had any trouble and I think I had around 7-8 gallons on it and it still ran great so I don't know what people are talking about when they say that v-specs will not last but I must say that I have a buddy that I race with that has been doing this for years and used to run v-specs and he went to a STS motor and he said that he is going to stay with them he has had 2 of them and it didn't matter where he went he either won or took second and he was racing with guys that place high at the pro series races so I would go with a v-spec or a STS

Clebo3, for someone to tell you that the GO motors have no longevity is just not accurate, the tunner has alot to do with that for sure, but these motors will last as long if not many gallons longer than than alot of high dollar motors. and if someone tell you that a v spec will always outlast a GO, thats BS. so enough with that.

You mention that your getting used to your 427, you may want to look at the 7 port GO, it is smoother on the bottom making it more controlable, the 5 port is brutal on the bottom end, but you may prefer that, I like the 5 ports myself, i just tame it down with pipe and clutch, you can get turbo or std head GO's and they also have a full carb insert kit available. For the price and performance and longevity it's hard to look past the GO engine.

I don't know about the GO TECH's but I have owned 4 V-SPECS and there is a reason the V-SPEC is the most raced engine out there. They RIP!!!
1st was a stock 06 model got about 7 gal out of it. and it blew up.
2nd and 3rd are EB Mods motors 8+ and I am sending them out to experiment with pinching.
4th is a speed V-spec its in my 8ight buggy with a 2060 os pipe and its FAST!!
only have 3-4 gal on it so it is still good and tight.

The bearing issues that have been heard around the forums has been solved in the 07 models.

V-Specs work best with a 2050 or 2060. also have tried a JP2 and JP3 they are ok but use more fuel.

You'll be able to find parts and support more easily with a V-Spec in my opinion. Having had a couple of them, I think they're almost impossible to beat as far as performance for the dollar. Clutch them properly and they drive like an electric motor. They have lots of power everywhere in the rev range, excellent fuel economy and take a tune very well. I've been very happy with mine.

Ok to start off I am bias. So now that we have that out of the way. I would recommend looing at the Wers B7.21 Pro. These are 10+ gallons motors. TRUST ME!!! They are a little pricey, roughly $300 but are great motors that are stupid strong but smooth. Give'm a look if nothing else.

Also if you decide not to go with Werks, both the GO and the VSpec's are awesome motors. I have run some Go's, VSpec's, Rb's and Werks are the best so far.

I'd say, give the GoTech a try. I'm pretty sure that a GoTech motor will be my next motor (Been using Novarossi motors lately)...
