Mini 8ight spur and pinion guard?
looking for a way to better house and protect the spur and pinion on the Mini 8ight. anyone know of a doityourself homebrew fix or maybe a hopup part prefab? i get alot of debris rolling thru my gear mesh. seems like a design flaw.....

Also, try not using reverse. Spinning the tires in reverse seems to be the biggest cause for dirt in the spur from my experience.

Do it yourself with fiberglass, it's not that hard

Don't be put off by the Driven Production product.
Delrin is one of the hardest plastics there is. It's the stuff that Hockey rink walls are made of.
Might be better than carbon fiber brace due to its ability to absorb high-impact forces without breaking.
Also, DP machining is very precise. They make great, quality products.

30 bucks is a bit much in my opinion for a guard. Especially when i already have a top plate.

He uses a 3-d laser printing method to rapid prototype that guard. The things I could make with one of those machines. Apparently it can use a fine titanium powder to make parts as well. Making cavernous hollow parts is now possible. Imagine steering blocks made with only the structural support needed. The weight savings can go to more intricate fillets and other load bearing elements to make the part even stronger.
