Racing a Traxxas Slash
I recently bought a Traxxas Slash for me and my son (7yo) to race as we are new to the sport and I heard that the Slash would be a good, "indestructible" starter truck. I was looking for any suggestions for upgrades to make it a better racer.

If it is stock right now...
Better servo, the stock one is to slow to race with. savox seems to be a popular choice these days.
shock oil, the losi 6 pack has everything you will need.
smaller pinions, robinson has a 6 pack for $12 IRRC
The stock tires should work on the carpet, but you should pick up a can of paragon to keep them from glazing(they get shiny and have no traction)
track time, the track is open for practice on wed nights.

It has been a long time since I've setup a Slash for carpet...
Here is the gist of my last setup:
-Front
Losi 2" Black springs #4.1
Stock pistions
50w oil +/-
Lower arm holes to the outter hole.
-Rear
Stock springs, or Losi 2.75" Yellow
Stock Pistions
Stock oil (30w) or up to 35w
Lower arm outtermost shock hole
Traxxas Jato plastic spur gear 58 tooth & a 10 tooth 32pitch pinion
Hope this helps a little.
