Serandin - I was using an 8.35 FDR with my 5700 and it got scorching hot, but i wasnt using a fan.

sloshedmr_bones - Since you have invested in high powered brushless system, you should also invest in lipos mate. the mambas go off with lipo. I run a Mamba Max 4600 with an orion 3200 lipo, and it has about 3/4s the power of a 5700 on matched packs...

True, a fan helps a lot. I'm also forgetting that a lot of you guys are running in California. So far this year I've been running in ambient temps of about 20-22 deg Celcius tops so a heatsink on the motor has been more than enough. :P

The heat problem will also depend on just how free your drive train is (take out the motor and spin the wheels they should keep spinning for prob 30 seconds +), your driving style, how long you run for ( if you're draining a whole 4800 pack without a break with any motor you're going to have major heat ), the ambient temp, the quality of wire you are using ( good quality wire is totally worth it ), your roll out (not normally an issue unless you are racing on foams, but a lot of drift tires are smaller in diameter than racing rubber and so should be taken into account), and prob a bunch more things that I can't think of right now.

I run my chassis in temps around 25-30 degrees celsius, so fans for me are a must. Im about to upgrade my standard bearings to acer's ceramic bearings. I was using 2 fans, but found that it decreased my runtime alot. Im investing in a 5v 40mm cpu fan and just mounting it with zipties to my upper frame. i dont run a heatsink, just fans. I do tend to run the 3200 right down to near cut-off, which is around 40mins. But im always stopping to check the temps and so on. if its a little hawt, ill stop for a few mins to get it down to temp.

I have also found that alot of other ppl are having heat probs with their mambas, my opinion though, since there sensorless, then they'll produce alot more heat. but someone please correct me if im wrong...

Hey,
I'm not a drifter yet but I've been reading some of the stuff in here and watcjing vids on youtube and Realy want to get into it. I've got a Tamiya TT-01 (Brand new). no hop ups yet but want to get new motor, alum prop shaft, alum steering set, carbon upper frame and a blue neon kit to top it all off. One thing though, I've got the body that came with and cos this is the first on road car I've driven/bought I've scratched it up a bit practicing doing tight little maneuvers around cars/poles/fences/gutters cos theres no club near me (I live in Melbourne, Australia). Anyway I saw some of the pics earlier in the thread:

(pg 30)

And want to get this body for my car (If possible). What make/brand (in real life) is it? And What model of car is it? Any way you get the "Drift". Oh btw can u get it Ready to role cos I can't paint?

Mazda RX7 FD3. Tamiya has a new TT-01D with this shell and light kit.

Check out: http://www.tamiya.com/japan/products..._rx7/index.htm

thanks. I think that my local hobby shop sells chassis for tt-01's cos they have a whole wall devoted to them so i'm sure that could find it there somewhere.

that body belong's to friend's of mine. aries326 got mad props for doing that body , the design wa sbased on the regular rx7 (FD3S) that's in the D1. Anyways you cant get that prepainted like that unless you get someone to do it for you. and that body is the yokomo i believe. but just as pole_position said, tamiya already has a body very similar to that one with the TT-01 drift, including a light kit already.

Your motor is mre than ok. Try not to use PVC. Get a set of ABS if you're on a budget or some HPI T-Drifts or Yokomo Single Rims. RPDs are supposed to be good too.

Hey, Anthony, what's up, bud? How's the whole rc racing and drifting scene going with you? I haven't been here in ages, sorry. I see the thread you started is still going strong.
