You can use a 7.2-8.4V stick pack (sub C)or a 3S lipo.

The lipo would be the better option, from a time between charges and speed of warming point of view.

There is a user adjustable low voltage alarm too so you don't over discharge the battery.

Ok thanks. Would a 2 cell lipo work?

If a 7.2-8.4v NiMh will work then a 7.4v LiPo will work also.

you would definitely expect so, even if the manual doesn't specifically mention it - voltage is voltage as far as this is concerned.

but when you can get a suitable 3s for under $15, why bother?

here is the manual

Get a 3s lipo, you won't be able to run it all day on the internal lipo either.
The warmers draw around 6A when all four cups are warming.
