Your car was super fast at Q3 Mike!
I didn't realise it was another driver filming, as it's not always following a single car.

Your Actinium blew in rnd2. You were way faster with the R1 in round 3 and 4.

The car did look fast in the video. The 6.3gram spool might be helping , but I hope there are more lightening upgrades to follow...

Guys I'm looking for a second gear diff for tuning purposes. Is the only way to get a Tamiya one to spec out the parts? No kit available like there is for the TB04 ball diff? Even from shops in HK the pricing is still kind of steep to build your own.

And secondly if that is the case, it sounds like the Spec R TB03 gear diff is a good alternative. It drops right in, or does with minor modification?

I had to piece out a spare diff. No kit available. I don't believe the TB03 is a direct drop in. It will change the gear ratio.

Yep spec out bits for a new TB04 gear diff. TB03 will not mesh properly with the TB04 pinion and will affect gear ratio

Wow that's good to know that there's a ratio change. I will stick with a Tamiya diff then. Thanks for the info.

Just change the ring gear..TB03 is 39T and the TB04 is 40T

First time back on the track in 4 months. Had a good time. But also has some issues... got rear ended while at a stop on the side of a slow part of the track to check some transmitter settings, and WHACK. Someone running a 17.5 found me like a heat sneaking missle at full throttle. Car landed on its wheels, so I drove it and it seemed fine. But... it also seemed really slow, and after a few laps I pulled it off. Motor was very warm. Warmer than it should be. Looked at the car car and the gear mess was too tight. Ahhh easy fix. Nope... that wasn't it. What the heck could be causing the drive train to be bound up. Checked the new evonspool that was a pain the shim. Spinning like it was on ice. Bent shaft... nope. As I get to the rear of the car to check the diff I find this...

Some how the whole rear input shaft/spur holder shifted back and got knocked out of the motor mount. Nothing else was wrong with the car. The lower chassis was just flexing down. Glad it wasn't an aluminum chassis. Would be FUBAR. So a V2 motor mount in the works with more bearing surface area?

Also in my 17.5, I striped my plastic diff internals, and luckily had the metal ones for a quick trackside rebuild. But in order to get it to operate freely, I had to loosen the screws a bit. And of course the fluid slung out. How are you guys building the diffs with the metal gears properly?

Also a starting 17.5 (Grey) carpet setup would be awesome. I was fighting mine all day trying to move it from USGT. The rear tires might have been drift tires. I was running jaco blues like everyone else

I'm thinking to give Tamiya diffs a try in my Exo 6. I drive Spec-R diffs in all of my EVO's rear and front (RB EVO, Exo 6, Exo 6). They should be easier to maintain.

Here is my Exo 5. Fantastic car! And with 419X shocks and raceberry low profile towers, low rider. Waiting on my raceberry chassis and top deck. Think we can slide the Exo 5 in EVO 6 thread

Had to work from way back in the field (blew a motor in qualifying, cost me a better grid spot) but was able to pick off some very fast cars 1 by 1 and ended up 2nd place and less than 1 second behind first. Have only ran this USGT car at 2 events this year but really loving the drive train and Tamiya handling!

Notes;
Prototype flexy top plate for extra grip on the bumpy asphalt track.
Exotek spool used.
Prototype carbon drive shaft.
Off the shelf (Hobbytown) R1 v11
Exotek C-hubs

Congrats Mike. We never were formally introduced and didn't know who you were till after I got home. I was just hoping to grab a third spot that day but as luck would have it. It turned out much better. I miss my exo6 and I think the new flexy top deck is a huge improvement for asphalt. Your car was hooked up.
