Tnx Danny. Guess my worries were nothing. The batts are great. Definitely a good buy.

What makes a good pack is a pack that runs strong on the track for the entire race. If you want to see what is a good pack without racing you need to cycle it with a high end charger/discharger such as the T-35.

A pack that takes more mAh while charging will most likely have more runtime but that is not always the case. When a cell gets older and the IR builds up in a cell that cell will take more mAh to charge because it's harder for the charger to put charge into due to the higher IR.

OK thanks for the info Danny/SMC, i am getting the IB3800 and racing with 19t do you suggest traying to 0v or .09v with 6amp charge .03peak or traying to 0v and then dead short for the best preformance, what are your teamdrivers doing in 19t.

Danny/SMC,

Would charging packs(IB3800) the night before a race and peaking them just before I hit the track ok to do? Whats the downside? Do I lose punch/runtime? I normally use my packs twice a day with atleast 1 hour rest before charging them again.

OK-everyone-do you like numbers? Well-if these dont make your eyes open-then your dead.

I just cycled my deadshorted SMC IB3800 pack. These numbers are at 35 amps.

At 30 sec the voltage was 7.54, at 60 seconds, 7.33 and at 300 seconds-still 6.66.

Final numbers off the GFX??? 347 sec, 7.08 and 14.9ir.

Clearly the best pack by a huge margin I have ever cycled. I am not even going to bother cycling the other two. Holy Crap!!

Why charge packs before night ? There will no punch from cells and feel really soft. Better to discharge cells to 0.9v, cool down then charge the cells. Best Result comes out from freshly charged cells. Run them twice a day will not be a problem but make sure the cells cool down completely inside out.

Can someone please clarify the cycling procedures? I've heard so many different ways to tray them, charge them, repeak, all the nonsense. Can We just get three "official" cycling procedures for stock, 19t, and mod, please?

try www.smc-racing.com

Danny at SMC has posted on here several times about the procedures for charging these cells, but they are also on SMC's website above.

Hope that helps.

Thanks. I just remember seeing people post eight trillion ways they do it, and still getting good numbers. I just had no idea which way was the factory approved way. Thanks again.

No problem I understand. The good info gets harder to find on the threads.

Hi Danny,

I just got an e-mail from a company called Intellect Brothers and told me they are selling IB cells. However, I found www.intellect-battery.com on the cells. Which company is correct ??

I would charge at 6 amps with .02-.03 peak detect. If its real warm where you race use .02

Follow the guidelines on our website. You can deadshort your packs but I can't guarantee the long time effects on the IB cells since it's still a new cell.

Where are you located ?

Intellect Brohters is a reseller of cells and is not IB the factory who makes the cells. My understanding is that they don't get the top spec cells that we use for RC.

Danny

can you define "long term"? are you talking about weeks? months? years? for example: im curious if i bring it down to 0.0v.. it'll only last (say) 6 months compared to NOT bringing it down 0.0v and it'll last 9-12 months? thanks!
