After you do that, let us know how it feels.

For you XI owners, can I get some feedback on this car for the price. I am getting ready to head overseas for a year with the Army and want an inexpensive but decent car. I plan on getting a spec class going with all the guys I work with since we will have an indoor hangar to use. I will use boards or dots to build the track. I want to keep it as inexpensive as possible. I can afford an expensive car, but the lower unlisted soldiers don't make Warrant Officer pay and I want to make it affordable. Was thinking XI sport with Speed passion esc and 17.5 spec motors. Giving the individual the option for radio and servo. Spec tire will be Sweep 36shore tires. Can you tell me if there are any upgrades out of the box this car must have like the associated tc4. Just trying to do some spec racing to kill time and introduce some folks to a fun hobby.

Out of the box, it's fine. It will work with the basic setup in the manual.
My setup is on page 43, if you would like to see what option parts I run.
First thing I would recommend, if you choose to upgrade, is the floating servo mount, swaybars, and different springs to adjust tuning.
If the guys have not raced RC's much before, I would recommend running 21.5's.
Stock up on arms, C-Hubs, and knuckles. They're cheap, and very handy.
Have fun out there, and thank you for your service.

I bought one of these last night. This will be my first on-road car ever. I got in on the 10% off deal on TQ RC Racing.
Is there any reason to buy the complete shock set
SAK-X28/PK rather than just the aluminum bodies SAK-X28A?

Hello new guy here thought I would chime in. This kit is my first touring car, happy so far. If you use the dampers in the first link you need to replace your shock towers due to the longer stroke. I changed out the damper bodies and used the titanium shafts. The most effective changes I've made are the floating servo mount, aluminum suspension arms, bulkheads and covers. I also picked up the reinforced knuckles and c-hubs, not sure if they are worth the extra expense though.
Cheers,
Shawn

The stock shocks are fine. If anything, consider replacing the bladders and o rings.

Many on this thread have found the reinforced graphite parts to be too brittle.

Right out of the box, and with Sorex 28's the car runs good on carpet.
I do take back what I said. The first thing you may need to change is the tires (i use Sorex 28 or Sweep 32's). Second thing you might change is the spur gear. I currently run a 66 48p. The standard 80 tooth won't allow you to gear high enough for most stock motors out there.
Enjoy thhe car, tell us how it goes.

If you use just the aluminum bodies SAK-X28A and the titanium coated shafts SAK-D127U will they be the same length as the stock shocks? Or will you have to use the optional shock towers?
Also, what is the length of the stock shocks?
What gearing should I use for a 17.5T brushless motor on a 2S LiPo? I've done research on the internet and opinions are all over.
