Probably, yes, but they seem few and far between, here. I live in the Netherlands, even if there was something decent on ebay it would cost a lot to get it to me from the US.

My brother and I picked one each of these for $65 AUD, all in all not a bad car. We have put in a rear axle and wheel adaptors from a Speed Passion LM-1 (looking the same as F104). I'm using foam and rubber tyres straight from my F104. Got 6x11x3 bearings from the US and putting in a Speed Passion 13.5 combo, using a Serpent 72 tooth spur. Using a 4200 mAh shorty pack of off my 2WD buggy. I will be looking for a WGT body, will probaby need to get from HK. We are both looking forward to just mucking around with them on carpet and asphalt.

Ok, I bought one of these 2 years ago. Had an old Associated R5 & an old Bolink hub sitting around. So I put the front end off the R5 on it & took a 3/8s step drill & by hand drilled the ride height adjusters for standard 3/8 x 1/4 & put the rear axle from the R5 on it. I only did this because I had the parts lying around. The car was not bad on carpet. I moved the battery & made a shock mount out of some old graphite & got the weight under the WGT 930 gram min. (925) Even running the Turnigy 13.5 motor.
The tires were new & not run in in the main, so there was a little tire spin for a few laps before the car came around. (The purple & yellow car in the video.) I mostly run oval & have not run on road in years & only did this after being challenged by a friend to do this, but it has been a lot of fun.

I had bought spare graphite & the things I thought might break but after a year with nothing breaking I hodge podged a secont car for a class we run in Florida with 17.5 motors & select HPI bodies. It has the old associated front & does not yet turn as well. But it made the a main at Minregg in the first big race for the class & came in 4th 1 lap down at the end of the day starting shotgun on the field. There are a few things I changed, Feel free to contact me if you need any info. Here is that main.

old thread I know, the best solution is an old one for sure. If you have this car remove the foam and take a wheel to your local auto parts store, have them find a radiator hose that fits the rim snug and you've got an great asphalt tire. Balancing may become an issue because hoses are not perfectly round, but it's worked great so far. now I just need to find a spur gear that can handle my nanotech 60c 2s pack and 5300kv trackstar setup. I've also lowered the body on the posts by one notch to make it a bit more slippery for speed runs.

After 1 run on a 3s lipo the front foams chunked out. Cut more radiator hose, the front end stuck fairly well on some low speed runs. If it's dry tomorrow I'll see what kind of speed I can push. Also, a castle sidewinder 3 is not cutting it for me, upping to a turnigy 120 amp ecs. Have to shoe horn it in somewhere.

69 mph, cc 5700kv, sidewinder 3, Turnigy 3000mah 3 cell 35-45c, 31t pinion, 77t spur 48 pitch. Speed measured by my phone gps.

Checking out the car after the 69mph run, problems abound. The spur diff slipped (a lot) and flatten the diff balls. I may have to completely eliminate the diff and attach the spur directly to the diff carrier. Hopefully I can just crank the slipper nut down and lock it.

Digging up this old post. Have been given one of these, my intension is just for a play thing as I already have race cars. Has anyone found any other rear bearing holders and axle that are a direct fit so I can fit WGT wheels and tyres? Is the Tamiya F104 rear axle a direct fit and an easier option therefore using F104 foams. Same with the front, anything that fits easy enough? I have some F104 front knuckles and axles that I could use at the front but the king pins are a bit long. TIA.

No I just use the stock ones. take one of these and by hand open the opening to the bearing size (3/8" for 1/4" axles) The bearing will fit deep inside but as of yet I have had no failures & they are cheap enough to order spares
