King: Yeah it was a pretty good result. Not great though. The car was handling good and smooth and I won the B-main at the small track again, but thats the third time in a row. So no big deal. They only took five cars to the A-main because the track is tight, but most people thought they should have taken six so I would be able to compete for the "A" I lapped my way through the B-main. My best competition, HPI-1 on this board, car let him down, so the main was spent strolling through the competition. So it wasn't anything special. I missed the race at the big track this weekend. So nothing to report there.

I did get something broken on my car though. I pull my car wide on the straight to pick it up off the track during practice. There was only one other car on the track so I figured I could pick it up before anything happened. WRONG! The ONE guy on the track apparently found the best line on the straight to be with his car rubbing the pipe. He nailed the rear of the car and broke my shock shaft. A quick shock swap and I was back on the track in three minutes.

Your car was running well, you guys had the right tire compounds for the cold track. You were in pace for 26 laps in the main. It took me to the main to get to the 25. I wish I could of started at the 25 laps and worked from there. Man, Kevin was lapping me until the main. I finally got some decent rubber in the main and did you lap me in the main. I'll be in OP this weekend and I hope I can finish a quailifier, LOL! It should be fun.

thanks black knight, where are you getting em from?...Greg mentioned there was someone in the sydney area selling them, we cant seem to get em here in vic..does anyone import them?..

Darkside...yeah those shock shafts are prone to snapping on a big rear end...

i was thinking of adapting a rear bumper from a tc3 or somethin..as the rear shocks are out there

Corally SP12 G3
HI,

I just acquired a Corally SP12 G3 but I have no idea on the setup. Can somebody help with a sample setup I can start with ? What would they be for:

1. Toe-in/out
2. Tire choice for most asphalt
3. Ride height fornt and rear
4.Tire diameter front and rear

Maybe if you cruise the boards a little you can find the a pan car thread that might list a good setup.

Hey fellas,
Back from the NORCCA Nats with ok results.
Qualified in expert/factory stock 7th in the A-main. Out of 4 qualifiers I dnf'd 2 of them because of radio problems but made strong enough runs in the other 2 to make the A still. Was only 5 seconds behind TQ and would of been closer if I had my other runs to help me with set-up i'm sure.
The bad news was I dnf'd all three A-mains because of the dam radio again just glitching and throwing me off of my race program. The sad thing was I was tied with the fastest lap times with 1 other person before I had to pull off. That other person won the title.
Needless to say that 3 month old radio is going up for sale this week....
I felt really good though for my first sanctioned race and will count the whole thing as good experience.

MikeR: Man thats a heart breaker. What type of radio was it again. Only 3 months old! Jezzz that really sucks! Sounds like you were doing well up to those problems.

what setup were you running?..and what were the conditions, surface etc..

I developed a horrible glitch at the track Sat. night. i had just cleaned the comm on my MVP, but I didn't get a chance to change the brushes. Then everytime I nailed the throttle, the car would sputter up to speed and glitch terribly whenever it got too far away.

Took the motor out and the problem was solved. I was really worried that my last race of the season there would be ruined by glitching.

Lucky for me there were some people there who are more experience with glitching than me. That was the first question they asked me. "Did you just true your comm? Did you change the brushes?" And just like that, problem solved.

Darkside- That's exactly what I experienced power wise. Seems like the cleaner my motor is the more it glitched. Fresh com cut, fresh brushes, sprayed clean, no armature debris, extra capacitor, switched receivers and still glitched. It's like I had way too much horsepower- more than the radio gear could handle. If I don't change brushes or cut the comm and put in my practice packs it doesn't glitch during practice- but it's also slower.

Anyway It was a large track (by my standards) and the fast guys were doing 14.3 sec laps (long straight). My secret weapons were theTake Off WSB w/ red echo inserts loaned to me by a buddy. Very hooked up under the 104f degree weather (160d track temp). Most people were running sorex 36 and were ok. P2k was geared at 5.8 and was FAST. Had my motor tech'ed for leagality after a race. Those that ran GM3's blew up in smoke! Also cut my wing down to lessen any drag and ran a vauxhal body. Other than that I ran the basic set-up I mentioned earlier.
coulda- woulda- shoulda- but was still very fun.

MikeR: sounds like you had fun up until the glitching stuff started. What are the Take Off WSB?

Take Off makes a few choices in rubber. The WSB series of tires are a special rubber they made for the world championships last year I do believe. They come in 3 different temp ratings, and they also come with inserts (not the best inserts). The only problem I have found with them is they can rip rather easily on the side walls, and they wear really quickly on carpet. Besides that, all the traction in the world, and very little side roll...
