so we have a nascar class that i have a pan car for and another racer has given me a used tekin 17.5 motor that has a sensor wire, the class allows only a 1s lipo! what is a good cheap speedcontrol that i can run that will work with 1s and a 17.5 tekin and will the motor run with out a sensor wire?

You need a sensor wire. haha If you don't have one I have extras. For 1s you need to look at whether you will need a booster or receiver pack or nothing at all. Some of the LRP's can go with nothing at all. But they have been notorious for their BEC's failing. So the new boards LRP is updating the ESC with is supposed to need a booster or receiver pack. I've seen a few people say their is working fine without a booster? But I dunno how long it will work that way.

I would say run a Tekin RS with a receiver pack. But thats me. I like Tekin ;)

You could go with Hobbywing also. Heard decent things about them. Lots of options really.

yeah was just reading that after i posted it popped up, still new to it as i am getting back into it but want to come out to our next race and be ready and not have a speed controller hold me up i will have to look and see what i have that will work, i think my lrp that i have right now in my t4 will so who knows i guess ill do more checking in the am!! but i would love to just stick one in the nascar for pretty cheap and be done with it and leave the speed controller in the truck!!
