On Asphalt/Tarmac, yes, but as the grip increases, the chassis shows its flex, but it is such a pleasant car to drive....

Well as for that Asphalt/Tarmac vs. "high traction" applications...


...I haven't heard any of the people with the super stiff plate chassis having any more/less success than the people using the graphite tub, or the stock chassis for that matter.

I see a lot of T2's around this way with super thick, super stiff optional chassis that should be 'right' for the "high traction" applications, but the owners of those cars haven't been too happy lately.

I guess a little flex, even in "high traction" applications, isn't a bad thing.

Exactly right, & in the right amounts, will really AID grip(that's why Associated later put out some ATF(Additional Torsional Flex) chassis parts for their FT TC4. But that car STILL has serious balance issues(which is why I've given up on mine, just couldn't get it to work consistently anywhere). But my TA05 is showing AMAZING balance, even before I've had a chance to change anything on it(aside from adding some universals & the blue Aramid drive belts). This little darlin' just drives like a dream, lap after lap after lap(& I think I'm only just beginning to tap into a little of its potential, should get even better as I learn more & get more comfortable driving it). I've definitely found more than just my TCS car, I'm gonna run her at the Novak, too(she feels way too good to ignore). On another note, does anyone know exactly which of the hinge pin mounts is the same as the stock one(talking about the rear one that sets rear toe-in)? I'd like to start experimenting with reducing toe-in a little bit, but I need to know where it is now & which ones to try(I wanna start with the smallest change first, if I can go down by a half degree, that'd be a perfect start)......

actually Bob, you will need a 1X to reduce toe....

see tryHards site for an Excel chart on the toe block... explains it well. basically it goes from narrow to wide, 1XE, 1XD, 1XC, 1XB, 1XA, 1X, 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, 1E... all in 1/2 degree increments.

hey guys , do any of you have a good set up for outdoors and on rubber . I race at tamiya usa. what about trying a set up from the new 415 mre, what do you think please help

Has anyone here tried foam tires on the tao5 yet? I'm wondering if they fit or not. I found out they don't fit the mre so I was gonna try them on the mighty tao5.

Hi,

yes foams will fit on the TA05. thats all I run on both of mine.
look back around page515 in the 415 thread. there are some posts about fitting foams to the 415 series. hope this helps

Thanks TimXLB. I know the changes to make to the mre to get the foams to fit. I've never run on carpet and I don't wanna buy a bunch of parts for it if I don't like it. The tao5 is the only other car I've got so I was hoping it would work. Thanks again!

Just wondering if anyone can point me to the instruction booklet to the TA05 for download. I've searched this thread and the TRF website. I was given a TA05 to try out yesterday. Looks cool.
