Simple Green
 

I'd like to get some feed back from people who use Simple Green on their rubber tires. Mainly how does it work? and when do I use it? I'd also like to know if you dilute it at all and how often you apply it. It seems like it could be useful information since Roar is limiting traction compound to this for rubber tires. I read this on the entry form for the Roar 2002 Electric Paved On-road Nats. Thanks in advance for any feed back.

Works even better with HOT water......
It will clean the tire more than soften it....

Most use it for off-road....

Try some suntan lotion for traction compond also...

I use it on my tires anytime I'm not getting the traction I want and I'm looking for consistent traction throughout the entire race, and not just the first two laps.

I'm not going to get into a debate about whether it softens or just cleans the tires. All I know is that my tires are quite sticky after I have wiped them down and the Simple Green dries.

Its a useful item to keep in your tool box. Between this and WD-40, their the only things I use on my tires.(if I use anything at all)

I use it to clean my TC tires before every heat. I don't think it softens the tires, just cleans them so they are like new. I took an old BINGO marker, washed it out and put the simple green into it, it makes a nice applicator.

I have found similar results as Darhseid..

Another good practice is to give them a GOOD rub-down with SimpleGreen at the end of the race-day, then stor them in ziplock bags or tire tubes....The next time race-day comes around give them a feel...You will be happy with the results...

I've seen it used straight and somewhat diluted, both. . .well, not at the same time, that would be kinda counterintuitive. . .ummm, never mind.

What I've mostly heard it used for is to clean the tires, then paragon or some such to treat the tires. . .

See why I didn't want to get into whether it softens the tires or not? Everyone seems to have their own opinion about the matter.:rolleyes: ;)

anyways....

I use it at full strength. I put it in an old "BuggyGrip2" bottle because it fits in my toolbox well. I usually spray it onto a rag and wipe the tires down.

Man, if someone has to use SimpleGreen, then add MORE stuff, like Paragon, then they might consider that their using the wrong tires for the track!:eek: :weird:

I don't even use the stuff, cept to clean things. . . strange concept I know. . . :D I do like the smell, though.

Boomer: I have a large spray bottle of the stuff and I don't think I have used any of it for cleaning yet!:ha: :lol: :ha:

Is SimpleGreen something that can be found at Walmart or a super market???

yes, it is a general cleaner/degreaser. most of the time it can be found in the auto department

And you guys are saying it works better then the trinity stuff??? That is crazy, but I will try anything....worst case, I give it to the wife for cleaning :)

I don't know if it works better than Trinity or Paragon, but I know that it and wd-40 work great. And both of them are a hell of a lot cheaper than the "r/c" stuff.

Lower cost + good performance= great value!
