Default Help with setup (tc4)

Hey guys, my name is DJ. Looking at building a TC4, just for fun. No competing besides between friends so nothing needs to be roar spec. I just recently got into the hobby. I've been running a 4x4 slash on a 3s with some aftermarket tires and had great success, but I'm a road guy at heart (I even run the slash on the road course )

I was putting together a build, just looking for opinions. I'm trying to not spend a whole lot, but I would also like a brushless set up. Here is what I'm looking at.

Chassis
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Associat...item4d00e30b9a

Motor (mamba 4600 + esc)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Castle-Creat...item5ae86963b7

Body (I own a Mustang IRL so kind of has to happen)
http://www.hpiracing.com/products/en/7328/

Controller
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=23165

Not sure if to run a 2s or 3s.
Haven't picked out wheels/tires.
Haven't looked into a servo.

So like I said I'm not trying to spend a whole lot. I don't know a bunch either, after some reviews this is just kind of what I've came across.
I really just want it for going around the course, but not competing. Just for my own enjoyment.

I don't know if this set up will work, so any information is welcome.

I also saw this motor + esc. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Castle-Creat...item43b0564606

Any info on to as if that's better bang for the buck?

Thanks again
DJ

If your local hobby shop carries TC4 parts then they are great cars for parking lot racing/bashing.

If you are going to be ordering spares from online sites, then look at the 3Racing Sakura Zero. Can be had for about $100, and performs alot better.

If you can spare acouple of bucks more, and want to stay with Associated, then look at the TC5/6. Much better car then the TC4.

And no this will basically all online orders, not much to pick and choose from here in town.

I'm just interested in something with a wide variety of parts and replacement parts.

That tc5 exotek chassis that you posted above is just that, a chassis plate. You would still need the actual tc5 kit before purchasing that. Exotek is an aftermarket chassis company. I would imagine if you really want a tc5, they should be about the same price on eBay as the tc4 club racer. $150 or so... But the tc4 club racer would be brand new. If your just running for fun, get the tc4. Like I said, it'll be brand new. And pretty much everyone has owned one at one point in time. The motors that you posted will work fine. You don't need the 4 pole motor, but it'll work. They will work with 2s lipos. Gens ace lipos would be perfect for you.

What I suggest is just spend some time around here, and other sites, and just do some basic research on all around anything about the hobby. You would be surprised on what you can learn around here, if you just search around.

There are threads specified on the tc4, and tc5, and ect. ect.... Search around for those threads here in the electric onroad forum. You should be able to find out everything you need.
