Looking at Hebert's worlds pics. He is not using the stock shock. Where the shaft goes through the the cap. What shock is he using? I bought a silva shock hopefully I can use it just not sure of what cups and size ballstuds to use and what overall length the shock should be

The silva shock not very good. The shaft stick because of the rubber o-ring. I think Keven uses a Hot Bodies which are hard to find, you might want to try the xRAY, mcPAPPY or replex racing sells one I cant remember the name.

Reflex Racing has the Team Prime shock. From what I've heard, it's a copy of the Hot Bodies shock.

I would start with 10,000 wt diff lube..... Depending on traction you might need to go to 15,000wt

What do you think I should start as a length of the shock end to end? If I use Hebert's shock setup?

Just set the length of the shock to give you 1.0~1.5 mm of droop.

Hebert's shock looks to be standard length, about 66mm centre to centre (my last 12R5.2 had the same shock). You'll notice at the Worlds though he has shortened the rear pod top plate so the shock is mounted further back than normal.

If you mount the front of the shock straight to the chassis like Hebert, you may have to find the right length by trial and error, or make custom mounts. Instead of cutting the pod plate on my latest, I just made a custom front mount.

Can only tell so much from the pics.. But I used the aluminum and CF shock mount from a old rc125.1 when it was mounted to the chassis and raises it approximately to where it needs to be. Ill take a second look to find out where to mount the back of the shock. If drilling another hole is all I have to do that will be easy. Thanks for that measurement that helps alot

Can anyone share what the advantages the Xenon front end are on the 12R5.2 over the stock front end. Is it just strength of materials? Thanks

The Associated lower arms shifted (tweaked) under a hard impact and required you to reset the arms. You want the arms to be at the same height left and right. Whereas the Xenon has a bushing insert setup which prevents this from happening. That's pretty much it.

With Xenon you also have the option to use stiffer plastics, as Xenon do both soft and stiff plastics. I generally use their stiff plastic arms, as I prefer the way they hold up under load.
