Your second one is more real - the other one is extremely involved and just seems to be more than would ever be done on a "real" track. . .

Normally I would take offense to that sort of thing, but having looked at it a couple times I have to agree with you. For me I enjoy making a track that challenges everybody. I want to design tracks where elements are used in ways that make people say, "I haven't seen it used THAT way before. This is really challenging." But in this hobby you sometimes have to sacrifice challenge for realism (in the sense that the track can actually be replicated in real life).

trackdesigner, if you look at your tracks, theres lots of white spots(wasted space), something most people when putting a track together want to avoid like the plague.

now if your making a parking lot track and you have lots of wood or whatever it is your using to make the track, and alot of space most of the tracks you made would be pretty awesome if you could physically get the shapes made with the wood or whatever

Thanks the link worked. I just love those brackets man. There so simple and functionnal. Track set up and tear down must be a breeze with this system. Very well done.

I don't use Photoshop. Don't have it and don't know how to use it.

Yeah, it's pretty simple..and flexible. Every race night, we change from road course to oval..then back again for every round (usually 2 heats and a main for each class) Change-over takes about 2-3 minutes. there are several "track layouts" laying around the track that are lamanated so the racers help w/the changeovers (usually the drivers and turnmatials of the last roadcourse or oval) bout 4-6 guys. Works well.

I have noticed that actually. I think there are some tiles that would allow me to close up some of that space so Im going to experiment with them tonight

Take it personally only if you want!

You know that this conversation started something like a year ago. . .

Which car are you driving, now? You know that it makes a lot of difference in how you view a track. If it's a 1/8th scale, you want it REALLY open so you can open it up. . .

If it's a 1/12th stock on carpet, you can whip that little baby into some really tight corners and whatnot.

But no matter what you're driving, you need to imagine driving the track as you build it. Put the controller in your hand and "drive" the track. . .throttle on here. . .coast and brake here, hard turn, . . . . . .

This is a track for a 100' x 48' or similar size. Each of the squares is a 4' x 4' block. It is run clockwise with the transponder loop where the red X thingies are.

We have run a track very similar to this up in Edmonton. Lots of technical, but one motherin' 100' straight to really wrap it up!

Let me know what you think.

Enggboy

P.S. If you like that, I have several other designs as well.

I was experimenting with the open tiles on TrackMaker and made this basic track
