1/10 Rear Pan wheels on Tamiya F1?
Can I do it? Any suggestions.
Pretty new at rc cars, started with Tamiya F1s, now getting into 1/10 pans.
To make use of a bunch of Tamiya F1 parts, I'd like to be able to use 1/10 pan wheels on the rear for some performance gain over the higher profile F1 wheels / tyres. Satisfied with the front at the moment.
Only solution I can see at the moment would be custom bearings, or sleeve. Tamiya axle is 6mm. I measured Serpent S100 axle at 6.32mm - I assume 1/4 inch - is that pan car standard?
So Tamiya uses 1060 bearings. If 10mm outer/6.3mm inner bearings were available I could use the Serpent S100 axle/diff/hubs and Tamiya motor mount and axle locaters.
It seems like a complete pan car diff/axle/hub set would be best. I'm using 10.5T brushless and Tamiya diff/axles seem fine with that power so if I could adapt Tamiya parts that would be OK.

Back in the old days there was a converion kit made to put 1/10th tires front and rear on a Tamiya. This was using a american axle I can ask the guy I sold them to if he still has them. The fun part would be getting the parts to you.If you have a e-mail address I think I've got pictures of the conversion kit parts.

you can...first you have to find a bearing with a 1/4" ID whose OD is just a tad smaller than the F1's rear bearing holders. You will also need a pan car rear axle assembly. First you place a piece of masking tape over the rear bearing hole on the rear pod and cut a + into it. Then press in the bearing with the 1/4" ID and then you can insert the pan car rear axles. For the front you find a metric bearing with the same ID as the front axles but slightly smaller than the pan car front rim bearing hole. Again place masking tape over the hole and cut a + in it then press the bearing in. Viola...pan car rims on a F1.

I suppose if I am going to try tape method, I could also give reaming/boring the axle holders a go - have plenty and they're very cheap.
I'm pretty happy with the front and I can always use 104 fronts instead of 103 (104 larger diameter) and true down for lower profile.

If you can find a Academy SP3-X rear axle and the alloy wheelhubs you don't have to change anything.
The Academy uses a 6MM axle so the wheel hubs would slide on the axle without any problems.
If you want the parts numbers and the addie who is selling them let me know.
They even use the 1060 bearings in the right side hub.
They are the flange type tho.

This is kinda funny as I'm trying to do the opposite with my RC Indycar Spitfire. I have someone looking into custom height adjusters that hold metric bearings. Maybe I should ask if they can produce Tamiya adjusters with standard bearing dimensions also? I think I will!

Hey , when you get a chance try teamcrp.net.I'm not too familiar with the F1 wheel mounts but for a past project of mine , i'd picked up plastic conversion wheel mounts......good luck .
