Default LIPO battery fitment into m05 and m06

hi guys,

just a quick question...

i've got a m05 and m06 on the way...

need a battery..,

thinking of this lipo..

Turnigy 3800mAh 2S 7.4v 25C hardcasepack

anyone know for sure it it will fit both chassis? its meant to be 136x45x22mm w/ bullet connectors... i know i will have to buy bullets for the car to connect, but aside from that, is it all good?

otherwise, i'd get a 3800 nimh here:
ebay ref: 180735882478

from what i understand, the lipo will be a bit quicker due to 7.4 vs 7.2v and it will maintain its voltage and power output longer than nimh? true?

if so i would probably pop for the lipo, otherwise at the same rating the nimh is the go as its a bit cheaper and the weight difference isn't much due to the lipo's hardcase ~ 50g.

cheers

joe

Do you want the good news or bad news first.

Good news is that a squared off battery will fit the M-06.

The bad news is that you need a rounded battery like a NiMH stick pack for the M-05 or hack the chassis to fit the squared one.

ahh thanks very much AreCee!

that's ok - i'll probably go for the nimh first, then upgrade later if i feel the need..

is there any guide as to what dimensions of pack will fit a m06 and m05?

i assume a 132x45x24mm 7.2v nimh will be no issue (w/ tamiya connector)

but is there anywhere with a guideline as to max dimension for each chassis?

the tamiya instructions are silent on battery aside from "needed, tamiya battery" - gee thanks!!

couldn't bring up anything useful aside from specific packs using the search...

cheers!

the orion rocket pack 3000 fits the m05 ... also peak racing makes a power-flo pack that fits . the are both lipo and shaped with the round edges to fit the m05 ..

There are quite a few rounded packs but the OP was asking about fitting the squared HK pack.

I have several rounded packs just for my M-03 that work well with a silver can. Would I be able to use my IP3800 in it, no way. The M-05 is almost the same.

If you want to save a few dollars look at the Duratrax line of lipos.

Whatever length a NiMH stick pack is. I guess it's about 135mm or so.
