Default TRF Tools with Hudy Tips... can it be done?

Hey Guys, So I broke the tip off of one of my TRF Allen drivers. Can I put in a replacement HUDY tip on it? Anyone tried this?

Thanks,

John

I think so, I have a friend that has done it. I never got to take a look at them though. I'm going to see if they work as well, because the design of the wrenches is very similar.

Measure the shaft of the TRF tool and what size of the tip and I can compare it to my Hudy.

Default trf tools

As TRF tools are possibly the best made, i can't believe you have broken a tip. I've had mine for almost a year now and nothing has happened.

just giving you a hard time Ronin! Have you tried to contact Tamiya? I bet they'd sell you a new one!

Thanks heirog, I knew you'd give me a hard time. Tamiya is closed for the holiday, I'll call them on Tuesday. I am just figuring if the HUDY tips fit, then I'll go fot them since (from what I understand) the Hudy tips are made of steel and the TRF tips are made of aluminum. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

forty6,

I just now had the time to take a pic:

The width of the shaft is .118 (3mm)
and if it matters, I broke the 1.5mm tip.

Thanks for your help.

The shaft diameter on the Hudy is 2.98mm, so it should fit the TRF handle just fine. It is also a 1.5mm tip by the way. It also has a flat spot for the set screw. Hope this helps.

Now the new question is where can I buy the HUDY replacement tips? Any suggestions?
