believe it or not.. but high end batteries coupled with a very aggressive VFS-1 profile will allow you to gear up a tooth. MAYBE even 2 teeth. if your motor is fading at the end of the race, my guess would be one of two things:

1. you are undergeared and the motor is heating up...(with the voltage and punch coming from your batteries and VFS)
2. your batteries are fading (you didnt mention what type or how long you've owned them) and the motor is working too hard at the end of the run.

try lowering your entire profile 3-5 steps and run it again. see if it improves. adding a fan will also help.

Hey Hebiki

I think your spot on with this one, Im using a very aggresive profile from the KO (19T technical track) with IB4200's and a checkpoint motor, the car is like a rocket (its an xray T2 running a 21 tooth pinion on standard spur), however I have had my motor get so hot the motor wires unsoldered in one race and the brushes unsoldered in the next, what powersave should I be using running 40mg tranny etc????
Im playing about with neutral brake/with a one way to get me around tight corners quicker anyone else tried this????

Gary... when your motor and brushes came unsoldered.. what was the ambient temperature? it must have been really hot that day? OR your gearing might have been off? im not sure. its a number of factors added together (with an aggressive profile and strong batteries will only amplify the situation) that can cause your unsoldering problem

as for powersave... if you are using spektrum, you need a higher setting (mentioned in this thread somewhere, i just dont remember the exact setting). but in a competitive race environment i want to maximize my batteries so i set the powersave to the lowest possible setting

Question about schotke(sp?.....bah!) diodes. The instructions say to use the optional, double diode for anything below 15T. If I have multiple singles, can I use two of these? Would they be in series or parallel?

ill let Robert from Ko Propo answer this one. he knows the proper ratings for caps to be used on the VFS escs.

1. always use a diode
2. yes you can use two singles right on the motor. (not sure about the series, parallel thing though).

its highly recommended (by Ko Propo) to have the diode directly on the motor. but ive seen people set it up so that its attached to the esc for those that swap out motors a lot. (or like me, lazy! )

I have the VFS-1 Comp2, I have seen alot of racers using 2 condensers (capacitor) on the ESC, what is the advantage of running 2? What is the best size of condensor (capacitor) if you are going to run 2? I see MMR has a couple of packages of condensor (capacitors) will one of these work?

More condensers more "punch", and ofcourse lower esr (less resistance). at least that's my understanding...

If anybody has been looking for the ICS-USB cable for the VFS series then look no further. I have just managed to get hold of 1 from rcmodel.com.hk after months of looking.

The USB interface for the VFS products has been available from KO PROPO USA since February. Already got mine. Though I see you're from the UK.

The supposed holdup was for translating the instructions, etc. I don't know why they bothered because it couldn't have been MUCH less easy to read/clear had they left them in Japanese.
