are those the ajustable things on the outside of the diff i think its the thing that ajusts the tension on the belt..is that what you mean?

Yes that is what he is talking about. If they are not set even on both sides they put a twist in the diff which will bind up bearings, shafts, belts and cause all kinds of problems. If those are not right that may be what is causing all of your problems.

so this weekend we ran on a smaller carpet track 17.5 and the back end allways drifted out on the corners.(every corner) I try to lay the shocks down but didnt help. so i used a harder spring and that fail . I guess i should of used softer springs...crap. any way what weight are stock springs? and any help would be great thanks

more like the rear diff fluid too thick.
Perhaps you accidentally switched front and rear diffs.

I'd also look at the front. Could have too much traction and causing the over steer off power. try braking straight harder then enter the corner under accelleration

I think the stock springs are 5.5T (turns of wire). Sakura uses a strange system where they tell you the number of turns, not lbs./in., so larger numbers are softer springs. I measured the springs I have on a cobbled together postal scale rig and got the following numbers (your mileage may vary):

4.25T - 34.1 lbs./in.
4.50T - 29.3
4.75T - 28.1
5.00T - 27.5
5.25T - 26.0
5.50T - 23.1
5.75T - 22.5
6.00T - 21.4
6.50T - 18.3

Anyone have a good baseline setup for VTA?

5.5 ride height front and rear
middle shock holes on the towers
30 wt shock oil
6.0 spring up front 6.5 rear
#3 sway bar front #2 rear
Front spool rear diff 80 wt shock oil
Front .5 degrees toe out 1 degree camber
Rear 2 degrees toe in 2 degrees camber
add 1mm shims under the upper inner camber link ball stud on the rear to lower the rear roll center

should get you pretty close to a good carpet setup. This worked for me on a medium to high traction track. if you are traction rolling remove the shims on the rear ball studs and go to 2 degrees of camber up front.

Thanks! Much appreciated. This saturday will be its maiden voyage and our first onroad race of the year. So traction should be relatively low.

Good luck with it. The sakura is really a great car.

Are your vta tires new? If so give them a quick burn out or some high speed turns on concrete to scuff them in. they will handle better. Start off using traction compound on the entire rear tire and the inner half of the front. if you push then go to a full tire of compound in the front.

Yup brand new tires. Any tricks or tips to gluing them up? A few locals have complained of having issues getting them glued good. I haven't even glued mine yet.
