Hi guys,

In a few months im thinking of purchasing some Fukuyama matched cells.

I have been told that my car (TA04 PRO) wont accept side by side packs, is there a way around this or will i have to settle for matched stick packs?

Ill also be purchasing a CDC V6.0b charger and a power supply, what amperage power supply would be suffcient for me?
Ill only be charging/dicharging and using a set of tyre warmers.

And finally are the CDC and integy charger the same thing? If so what is integys equivalent of the CDC V6.0B

Surely if you put 6 cells side by side in one pack (as in glued in one row of six instead of 2 rows of three) they would fit?

When i had a TAO4R i had the same problem, i found myself a pair of <a href="http://www.ntsearch.com/search.php?q=battery&v=56">battery</a> holders of a HPI SPORT 2

LOOK AT THE FOLLOWING LINK PART NUMBERS A370 BATTERY HOLDER. THAT WORKS VERY WELL.

on this link click on kits, then at the bottom of the page click on sport 2 under discontinued cars, click on manual up the top, and then click on the trab that says overall view of the rear end.

The kit is discontinued, but there are <a href="http://www.ntsearch.com/search.php?q=people&v=56">people</a> still around selling them.

Side by side packs do fit the TA04. Ideally, you should get the lightweight racing chassis which has the slots cut out for the cells. You will however need to be careful when using this chassis because it is carbon reinforced and therefore conducts electricity. If you don't line the battery area with some sort of insulation material, you risk shorting your batteries.

Be careful what battery bars you use though. Taller ones, such as the Deans 3 bars will make the pack too wide for the battery tunnel. It was molded with 2000's and 2400's in mind, not the newer cells. Orion has some really nice low profile bars that work well.

Thanks for the response so far guys.

Will building Fukuyama cells in a stick pack configuration make any difference in performance etc as opposed to building them in side by side/saddle config?

If not i might just build them in stick pack configuration.

That's cool bro.. No problem if the cells that you gonna use are fukuyama.. Just a reminder when soldering them up DON'T HEAT THE CELS TOO MUCH as for this will somehow damage the cells and might affect their performance... Happy racing....

is the TA04 pro the one with the FRP upper and lower decks? if yes, you can grind a bit off the plastic battery holders (not sure if this is TCS legal, though, if you plan on joining) just remove a bit at a time and test fit to make sure that you dont grind away too much material. i suggest using corally style connectors - use a battery bar on one side so it will clear the plastic holder and solder a 1" length of wire on the other so you can slide the side by side pack through the chassis. im using side by side packs on my TA04 SSG with no problems after grinding the plastic holders.

re. stick pack vs side by side assembly, i prefer side by sides because i can tray them for maintennance

the slots are perfect for using side by side packs .....
yeah but be careful with building the packs....i had a little trouble getting the pack to fit ...... but with flat thin bars u should have no problem .!!

arhh ...... from memory it doesn't come with the ta04 R ( comes with a similar tub but with no slots for the side buy side packs)

but is standard with the TA04 R Tuned chassis ....

Yes the TA04PRO can take side-by-sides if you Dremel the battery holder (J part?). Some just chop off the overhead loops.

Or just remove the whole battery holder and tape the batts in. (the battery holder is a fairly serious chunk of plastic deadweight!)


The slotless carbon tub chassis came with the first few TA04R chassis kits, but along the way Tamiya changed it to the slotted carbon tub.

The slotless one is discontinued.

All the TA04R w/-body kits since the Altezza TRB001 have come with the slotted chassis.
