I've been drooling over the pictures of the new front end, but there's one thing that bugs me. I'm still going to get it for pure ease of adjustment if no other reason, but I gotta ask since no picture I can find shows it, and as a part-time fabricator/machinist in my job, it's driving me crazy.
How is the spindle attached to the pivot balls? I know the pivot balls are threaded, and it looks like a lock nut upside-down above the top pivot in the early pictures. So is it a screw? Long set screw? Spindle insert, what!?!?

We are using the AE spindles. What we do is install a 4-40 helicoil in the kingpin hole and then a set 5/8 long 4- 40 setscrew is installed. The pivot balls thread onto the setscrew on top and bottom and clamp to the spindle. The ball rotates nice and freely inside the pivot. It is twice as strong as a standard kingpin set up and alot more smooth.

But... given the price of heli-coil kits, are replacement spindles pre-modified going to be available? I'm fairly sure I already know the answer based on my experience with BMI so far, but just thought I'd double check

Of course i will have them as replacement parts I have an automated helicoil insertion machine that i use for this. It takes 1000 ct. spools of threaded inserts. I get a good price on them so they wont be extremely expensive. I will figure the price out for them and let you know shortly. Its not a common breaking part though so i wouldnt be overly concerned.

The limited practice I have on my car already hasn't lead to anything broken, but I do have a slight wobble on a front wheel, and a slightly "looser" axle to spindle fit on that same corner. Luckily the carpet hasn't been clean enough to go any faster than I was during those "moments".
