Hi James,

Craig and I both are fairly new to the design and characteristics of today's 1/12 so a lot of what we did was trial and error, but for the most part we were pretty successful. Craig preferred the Medium front and rear and pretty much stayed on that the whole week. I tried Soft all around, Medium all around, Medium front/Soft rear and I also preferred Medium all around. We attempted to use the same logic of running a yellow (soft) rear to free the car up, but due to the size of our tires (40mm front, 41mm rear) and the type of rubber the Soft is made of, I feel like the Soft rear locked my car in a little more than the Medium did. I know for Paul, he feels differently about this but he is also running Mod and going at least 2X the speed we are going. The only combination I did not try, that I really wish I had, was Soft front/Medium rear.

I honestly have never run a black/yellow combination of any sort on my car in high bite conditions as I began testing Paul's tires about a month ago when I really started focusing on preparing my 1/12 for Snowbirds. From hearing others talk I am sure my setup is all based on freeing the car up. I know I changed the angle of my dampening tubes to make them more level, I went up from a .018 (speedmerchant) side spring to a .020 and even cranked 1 round of preload on them, I removed some ackerman by moving my inner steering link forward, and added .5 deg front camber. I also prefer the CRC Black Art Audi body, I think it's the R8C as it seems to have less downforce than the Protoform AMR that Paul runs.

Hope this helps!

Paul,
Can you help me locate where the o-ring and thin and thick brass washers should be located when re-assembling a Thunder Power motor?

Thanks

Hi Craig. The major difference that you will see is a increase of torque.
with the blue rotor you may want to gear up to get a similar top speeds of the red rotor, then evaluate weather you have more torque or dropped motor temps once you have achieved that same top speed. for the most part i think that the blue rotor is the best all around rotor, but the green and red definitely have their place for more specific applications. Thanks.

Hi, i shim everything from the bottom of the rotor (no shims up by the sensor). i will add or take away shims from the bottom until i get roughly .2mm end play. Thanks!

Hi Leighton,

If your local shop is RC Plus from your signature, we normally receive faxes from them, but I have not seen any come through in the last week or two. Phone number is the same as always, 214-744-2400, 9-6 central.
