The Hpi looks like a nice play car, but not a race car.

I would look around at the type of cars the other racers are using to see what works. Plus, check out what you can get parts for in your area.

I raced a TC3 in oval a couple of times and loved it because it was easy to end up with a left side weight bias due to having a NIMH battery on the left.

raced a HPI sprint2 a few times, held up for awhile but woudnt recomend as a steady diet, parts wear out to fast! if your serious the TC5/xray seems to be a fav at the track, also good you run offroad, itll help driving skills onroad

You could also look at a Kyosho TF-5 or AE TC-4 RTR, then upgrade to brushless if you actually like it. They're better cars than the HPI and pretty inexpensive.

I'm only (almost) 2 years old in the onroad feild, but i bought a rtr TC4 and i love it. i dropped a Novak 13.5 Havok in it, a new servo, and i love it (i use it for normal onroad racing, not oval)
