For mod racing (5.0t boosted), I used last season the 42 front/35 rear combo, which worked ok. For stock and/or non V-link car (which generates less rear grip), you can go for 40 or 38 front and 32 or 30 rear. It also depends on the track conditions and the temp.

What I don't like with Contact tires is the fact the wheel has a bigger inner diameter than other brand, so when you true down your tire at 59mm, the layer of foam is thinner than an other brand's tire. So they last less...

I guess so, but you will probably need to shim the diff hub side to get perfect centered.

The IRS hubs won't fit the Corally axle because it is larger in diameter than the IRS axle.

If you're planning to use IRS axle and hubs with a VIP car, you absolutely have to choose the 2014 spec (narrower aluminium pod plate) because with the 2015 parts, the carbon pod plate is wider and the IRS axle too short.

G-rem

IRS Vip Vorlon prototype
IRS rear axle and perfect for a Saxo body
Got info from a mate of mine who is running this chassis in mod with a 4.5 motor and he said it was really easy to drive and on first outing without really going for it, did laptimes he normally had to push his car for.
And there is more to come on the lap time department

Regards Roy

MUCH better??? It is a very small difference between a 7mm Corally axle and a 1/4" IRS axle.

1/4" = 6.35mm so the Corally axle is only 0,325mm wider on each side. IRS axles perform really well also in high speed asfalt situations... FOR SURE!!!

I agree with Joost: last year I ran with an IRS 235mm axle in my AE/TRR with the same electronic as now (Reedy 5.0t boosted) and I had absolutely no problem at all!

The only time I broke an IRS axle was when I accelerated like a dumb@ss with the car up in the air, so very stupid and absolutely uncommon^^

For my VIP, I decided to use Corally axle only because the car has mainly been designed around this one (and because I saw some people struggeling with properly centering an IRS axle on the VIP alu pod...). And also because the Corally axle is a little bit longer than the IRS, so there is more material in the left hub to set it.

But if I had the choice, I would have picked the IRS axle because it is standard (I could re-use all the ceramic bearings I bought last year...) and because you can use TKO diff ring, which are soooo smooth

OK, thanks. You start at 58mm for outdoor racing? I want to apart at 60mm because we're not sure of tire wear. I did buy a different brand set that was pre cut to 58mm, so I'll try those first. We'll see...

I have run the Xceed tires front and rear.
They come out of the box at about 63MM and depending on car i run i didn't true them or back to 62MM to get just the top layer of foam off so it would take the sauce better.
For me the BSR tire is better.
More consistent too the Xceed.
You can run Xceed at the rear with BSR on the front with no problems but if it is the other way around you get oversteer with the same shore compound.
If you want a good less wearing tire, go for the Ufra but be aware that the 40sh we run have a bit less grip then BSR
Xceed combo i used are the Hard/Hard combo front /rear.
This should be like the BSR double purple front and purple rear or the Ufra 40SH front and 36Sh rear.
I found that the Ufra 38SH are more like the BSR double purple front(also 40SH).
Hope this will help any.

Regards Roy
