I would've thought the "bridge" sensors run over the track... the cars run under them... that's how my local track used to be, until they ran the loop under the track surface. Not sure about how high they have to be though.

The "special" RC carpet is from Calandra racing concepts, called Fasttrack HD. The only thing really special about, it is treated to be static free. If you use spektrum receivers, static glitching shouldn't be an issue.
Its about $7 USD a square yard (or about a square meter) Probably about $4000USD for a decent size track and then you have to pay for shipping out of the US probably another $3000USD,
My choice would be to buy some cheap commercial grade carpet locally and treat it against static

ok a quick update

our local track Real80 in groningen are helping out by by paying for the carpet , lighting and wood for the barriers , we can use the AMB timing gear and we also have another sponser on board to help with payment of a few parts

the circuit will be ready in the next 2 weeks as we are all ready to get it finished are ready for a big opening and a 6 race open championship

where do i get the best RC racing carpet from ???

i hear from the MACH that they bought it in the UK but it came from belgium

this is all i am waiting for then i can lay it down and get designing a track layout
