If you're going to use AMB pt which most people use you will have to buy AMB's decoder. You may have luck finding an older AMB decoder unit that is for sale. Make sure it isn't the older AMB 20 decoder since it doesn't work with personals.

For the track surface concrete maybe alright but it depends on the surface smoothness, grip etc. You're probably better off using carpet (ozite?)that's made for racing rc cars on but I'm not the one to ask about.

For good track layouts I would look up big races such as Reedy Race of Champions, Snowbirds etc. for a good starting point.

hey phill
concrete works but you have to make it apsolute dust free.
and treat it with sucar water for best results
for carpet we use the lowest price carped.
for a layout use one off the nice ets layouts. its about the same size

Sounds like you have a great possible venue for a track... 600m2 should give a good sized track and a nice amount of pitting too.

Carpet is the way to go. You can probably source it in the Netherlands, although it is called Ozite in the US (and we generally use stuff called PrimaFelt in the UK), it is basically a low-cost exhibition carpet.

You can get dust inhibitors for concrete. Companies like Sika or Fosroc make it. The advantage is that it won't wear out like carpet, and a mop can clean the crap off your track
THere is an alternative timing system out there, but I can't think of it off hand, do a google search. It's about 1/4 the price of AMB, but you can't use AMB PT's (small issue really).

Phil,

Just give me the length and width of how big you want to make the track itself. I will make some nice layouts for you...

Cheers mate...

There are other systems out there but none are compatible with the AMB transponders. If you use one of them you will need all new transponders...the good news is they cost considerably less then AMB transponders.

Hi,
dont forget to make a few alternate courses, you will get tired of the same course over and over again, as for the flooring, i have no idea

We use rc lapcounter, ordered from USA.
Took 5 days to Norway, works great, cheap, small transponders. Overall a great system! For software we use LapsFree.

Email him and get a quote, he's very helpful! You can't go wrong with this setup!

Yes that's the one that we use at our local track. Inexpensive and works fantastic.
