tamiya uk complaints register

on the 415 thread a lot of the tamiya drivers were comlaining about the tamiya uk importer 'the hobby company'.
this is for any tamyia uk drivers to post there compaints and examples.
this will then eigther be printed to 'the hobby company' and tamiya japan or e-mailed to them.
we need as many people as possible but they must not be lies, only the truth.

the reason for this is that tamiya's image, repution is being ruined in the uk by the hobby company.
also i want to see spares when i need them for my £400+ kits.

When I first got my 414 I rang Hobby Company to ask them for spares and was told that they would NEVER bring spares in for this car but could order them and it wouild take 4 month. I did order them as I did not know about R10 and forgot about them. After finding R10 I ordered from them and had them in 5 days. Seven month later I got an email for HC saying my parts were in !!!!!!!!!

trf racer 01-08-2004 11:43 AM

when tamiya won the worlds i enquired about the TRF414M2WCR and the hobby company didnt even have heard of it.

also when parts are in stock it takes on average 3-4 days to come and if not in stock as it seems all the time it takes at least 6 weeks to come.
this is purely unexceptable.

i also phoned for some TRF tamiya shirts and said that tamiya didnt make them.
even though they got them on tamiya usa site.

also they cant find anything without a part number and even when the have the part numbers its eigther not on their computers or not available.

you got my vote; either the HC get their act toghether and start getting in performance tamiya cars and parts, at a reasonable price. or they stop sulking about everyone ordering from asia.

Japan vs. UK 4 Tamiya

Guys,

Do we know that the importers are sulking as a fact or are we just assuming?

Anyway, onto the complaining.

Was quoted 3 months for a ball cup king pin part by the UK distributor - they bring the kits in but not the parts. The person I spoke to clearly had no idea on the Tamiya range of cars and seemed to be using manuals for some of the cars to look up part numbers. They'd be better off using R10s website!!!!

weather they are or not weve got to do something about the situation for us as tamiya drivers and for tamiya as a team and company.we can accomplish something and what ever the outcome we will know that we were the contributing factor and thats something that we should be proud of.

Re: tamiya uk complaints register

as some people want to stay annonymouse i will be posting their complaints.

The thing is there are plenty more shops in Japan and Hong Kong so if Rainbow ten have to stop shipping overseas or inflate there cherges for overseas customers i for one will go elsewhere but will not be held to ransom by my UK distributer and there inflated prices.

trf racer 01-08-2004 12:42 PM

Some of the stuff you can buy from Japan isn't even brought in by the importer.

Has anyone ever tried getting spares for a TRF or EVO3 car from the UK distributor? Absolutely useless!!

trf racer 01-08-2004 12:43 PM

I was actually quoted 8-12 weeks by the UK Tamiya distributor for a spare ball cup king pin for a ta04 racing steering set. This is on the kits they bring in, ie. tao4 trf and on the hop ups they sell in the UK but do they support them? No.

They expect us to stop racing and wait 3 months for a part!

They should let some of the guys that run the local hobby shops do the distribution for Tamiya in the UK as it is currently very very bad indeed and they are missing out on a big sales opportunity.

trf racer 01-08-2004 12:44 PM

It just really gets my back up that they will let a UK shop sell you a TA04 TRF for £399 (US $730) and yet they won't support it with a part worth about £1

!!!!!!!

trf racer 01-08-2004 12:45 PM

man if that is true that R10 wont ship outside japan then that sucks bigtime! the distributers in the UK are real bad, they dont even know what TRF stands for (maybe a little exagerreted...lol).

trf racer 01-08-2004 12:45 PM

Hell your so right there they have no idea at all.

trf racer 01-08-2004 12:46 PM

that is no exageration.
they are scum.
when RIKO were importing tamiya everyshop had tamiya spares now even 'tamiya specialists' dont have spares.
this country makes me sick.

Rick Draper 01-08-2004 12:46 PM

The only issue i have is i am sure the one everyone else has, how can the justify the cost difference between Europe and the rest of the world! A evo 3 s was £500ish over here, in japan or hong kong its £215, and from speedtech rc its £200 at the moment +delivery and any import charges. Sorry but there is no way delivery and import charges would bump the kit cost up to £500. Rick
