17.5 Blinky TC running Rev Pro with and a MMM with a 12.5mm red ring rotor anyone have a good starting FDR and reccomended timing.

I have the stock, green and yellow timing boards.

Track has a 125ft straight.

Any help is appreciated.
i would start at 3.6 with the green ring and move downward if your temps are good. use a fan on the motor.

question though. are you aware the 12.5 red ring rotor is not roar legal? it's actually a mod rotor

Yes im aware the rotor is not legal but this is club racing so thats why i have it.

And should i start with the green board all the way to the left and bump the timing if the temps are mild or play with both gearing and timing??

I use to run the Citrix stock spec with a 3.5 FDR this is the first time running Blinky timing.

Try this....MMM 17.5 with 4.4 final, yellow board, a little off from full left, kinda like 33*. You should GEAR UP before touching the timing. for 17.5...the timing with yellow board and alittle bit less then the middle position should be the max that you can go.

Default Reventon S questions

Hi Speed Passion users,

I just picked up a Reventon S w/o the led programming card. During testing i found that the ESC is set up in race mode w/o reverse and the brakes seem rather weak. As I don't have the program card, is there any way to change the settings on this ESC ? The manual appears to have steps to program the stock club race ESC, but they don't appear to be applicable to the reventon S.

Will be really grateful if anyone can answer this, before I start looking for a program card.

Rgds, Ed

Sadly no, you will need a card. I would get the LCD version as the LED version does not support all the newest firmware and I am sure that this is where SP is leading us.

Don't buy the WiFi or or Bluetooth Modules thinking that they will do all the same things that the program card will do. They do, until the ESC gets locked up, and then you you will need a program card and PC to unlock it anyways.

The great deal you think that you are getting by buying the cheap ESC w/o program card, turns into an expensive deal in the end.

I am running my 17.5MMM with the 12.3mm coated rotor and yellow sensor board. I previously had my timing at a bit under half and the car was ok. I then turned up the timing a little more (Past half), and the torque and top end increased. I can probably even go up a tooth or two. My current final drive is a 3.96, but I may go up a tooth to 3.88, or up to 3.8. The motor is very fast, but I want to see if I can get a little bit more speed out of it.

Motor temps btw were very low, around 135.

Hey Eddy,
I'd just get an LCD box and be done with it.
The modules,(wifi and Bluetooth) work great, but you won't need them.
DURTBAG is just a bit of a sourpuss as he didn't do his homework before he made his purchase.,so his opinions are a little negative.

As a racer of many, many years, the Speedpassion gear is the fastest, and easiest to use once you get used to it.
I'm sure you will be able to get a card s-hand cheap.
You will then be so blown away with how much you CAN actually do with this esc,as it unlocks its FULL potential!
Regards
Tim.

Well, I did contact [email protected] on 02/22/2013 with a ?, granted it was after I made my purchase.

Hello Terry,

No, you don't need a LED card. You can change setting or upgrade firmware with the Wireless module.

Thank you
Speed Passion

Sir,
I have just ordered a Reventon R with out the smart LED program card, ( from RC MART) as I thought i could go right to using the wifi unit with my iPhone. Is this correct ? Or will I need to buy the program card as well?
Thanks, Terry

Later found this on the SP Reventon FAQ page:

Reventon Series ESC (Stock Club Race is excluded)

PC interface, LCD / LED card or Bluetooth / WIFI module could not connect to ESC successfully. Both of the tools are updated to the latest software version.

Use Reventon PC interface “Safe mode” function to update the ESC firmware. You could find an instruction in installation package.

##Reventon PC interface is available to download @ http://www.speedpassion.net/en/download.asp

So I did some homework

I am currently running Tekin rs pro in mod rcgt and looking to get a speedpasson esc for another rcgt tc, any recommendations as far as a esc with capabilities to do boost and timing, not looking to break the bank either just something to throw in a second car.
Thanks

Wow, thanks for the detailed answers, guys. Even the "sourpuss" ones .
Decided to order the LCD programmer from the SP webshop. I think they go through Walter R/C in Sydney. The manual that came with the Reventon S wasn't very clear, but it does look like the programmable features on this ESC are based on what firmware you load onto the ESC, and the firmware comes from the PC program. Did I get that right ?
