I used a regular TT-01 as the donor car. Those boxes will probably work but look a little bulky. The fix I suggested to help hold the battery in is pretty easy to do too.

I just bit the bullet & bought a TT01e chassis only kit. Will just sell off the uneeded parts. This build up is now getting expensive. Looking at your batt fix, that seems to be the way to go, or something similar.

Yeah, those batt boxes are ugly, but I can cut them down , or just throw em in the bin Only $5 each so worth a punt, & can use them for lipo trays on my other cars.

How well does that velcro batt strap work??. It look as is it would be hard hold the batt down tight with it.
The local track has low track barriers that tends to send cars airborne when I run over them, so Im thinking it may pay to tape the batt in ??

Is glass tape not an option to hold the batteries in? I use it and have had no problems.

There are slots in the chassis plate to allow the use of glass tape. Taping works but the velcro makes it easy to change batteries and with the parts tree fence I made the battery doesn't move.

I have mine TT01 M modified a little to extend the wheelbase so that it could fit the Tamiya Beetle body with 239mm wheelbase
