Exclamation Duo Timing........

Alright guys, is it really 0, 10, 20? Or is it 10, 20, 30?

I have conflicting data from 2 sources and I need it verified.
I know the 12th guys are running 0 degrees with max boost on
Tekin Speedo so it must be 0 degrees? Right?

Hey BudD,

Yes With Full Timing Boost on the Speedcontroller and zero Degrees on the Duo that's the hot ticket for the Tekin

My understanding is that it varies a bit from Duo to Duo. It's probably 0-10, 10-20, 20-30.

Not really. This is my understanding.

Due to assembly variances, and manufacturer design, we are hearing that almost all brushless motors actual 'true' base "0" degree timing mark/setting can be between 0-40 degrees within the motor. An RC Sensored Brushless motors timing is not defined by ROAR.

Asking what the "actual" motor timing is at each timing setting cannot be determined from the outside of the motor, only the manufacturer could tell you that, but most choose not to. The assembly variances in the stack could cause it to be slightly twisted in the can, solder joints slightly to the sensor ring can be slightly off center for more built in advancement, etc... All assembly variation and/or motor design.

This FACT remains on the DUO, the timing holes are 0, 10, and 20 degrees timing advancement. Brushless motors external timing adjustments are simply an adjustment to the motors stock timing. This is the same for the DUO, the timing adjustment holes are not relational to the motors stock timing, but how much timing you're adding on top of the motors stock "built-in" timing.

For example, if the DUO's stock timing is 25-deg, and you put the timing adjustment at full clockwise, you now have a total of 45-deg advanced timing, likewise full counter clockwise would be 25-deg, and middle hole 35-deg. *** This is an example, as I don't know what the "built-in" timing is for the DUO motor.

DUO Timing Holes:
Full Counter Clockwise = 0-deg additional timing
Middle Hole = 10-deg additional timing
Full Clockwise = 20-deg additional timing

i am looking at gettin a new motor and the duo by team epic look good. has anyone got some feedback for me about their 13.5 and 10.5. i know that this would be their duo two versions but how are people liking these

So does anybody truly know the average Stock\built in timing for duo motors?

As pointed out earlier the 0 deg hole on the motor is not really 0 deg timing in the motor. There some default timing built in that needs to be accounted for when using a timing adjustable ESC.

I don't know if this helps, but the Duo's with the three timing holes are nothing more than SpeedPassion motors with adjustable timing. So Duo in 0* timing = SpeedPassion. You might have more luck asking what the std timing built in for a SP motor is over in their thread . . .

Why do you need to know the "built-in" timing?

I don't think having this info will help with setup much, as it will probably vary across motor to motor so much, that it won't be a consistent enough number to base anything on. Just know that almost all brushless motors have factory advance timing built-in, between 20-40deg.

On the LRP X-11 Stock Spec for example, I was told by Reto at LRP that the stock base timing is 40-deg! The adjustment on the LRP X-11 motor allows an additional 0-deg to 19-deg timing for a max mechanical timing of 59-deg!! Now I don't know about you, but knowing that base 40-deg timing doesn't help me figure much out.

There are also so many people running this motor that we have DUO setup tips galore. Follow the tips from others with the DUO, and enjoy going fast.

I'm using a Tekin RS ESC so it would be nice to know the real total timing.

hello everybody im new to r/c so i still have a brushed motor its a speed gem extreme 10t motor will advancing my timing give me more power just like advancing timing in a real car does

Timing advance BL or brushed just moves the power band around. It doesn't create any power that wasn't already there, although it may make the power more useful.
