Default Spool?

It seems as though all of the fast guys that run asphalt/rubber all run spools in the front. What exactly is a spool. I have a basic idea but not 100%. Why do they run them only in the front.

Also wouldn't a one way be equivalent to a "spool"?

Thanks,
Cody

Spool or a solid axle usually used for tracks that is slippery, small technical, or big wide tracks & tracks that needs braking. Thats for me...

A One-way is only a spool when on-power. Or not its not considered a spool. Usually I'll use a 1 way on small or mid size tracks with no need for braking for a hairpin.

Spool also suits a more aggrasive driving style.

Thanks Ben, I was also reading a setup sheet. For toe it said 3degrees total. Does that mean 1.5 to each rear wheel?

From what I have read, spools arent used on small tech tracks...they are only used up front because in the rear, they would act like a locked diff on a drift car...try running it only in the rear and you will quickly see what I mean...
