What does that do for the car? I thought people are going up to 2.25 with the white diff pullies instead of going down for racing mod. Let us know how it goes!

Yeah, maybe goin up for Mod. But for stock and 19t... it might be different. I'll see how it goes. I dunno. Just something someone was wondering who races both an XRay and 415. He notices a difference in how the car's power is throughout the run in stock class. I know for the TA05 the internal is 2.25:1. But TechRacing made the 18t pulley to reduce that down to 2.0:1. Xray is a pretty good car for stock class. Internal is 1.7:1. Corally is 2.0:1. So I'm just doin some testing.

hey guys, I've been trying to shim up some sloppy areas on my MSX the last few days and I'm down to one area which is troubling me. How do you guys take care of sloppyness in the front steering linkage plate (part#4305556) ? There is a lot of up/down movement around the bearings which are seated in it.

A few of the 415 MS/MSX racers at my club have noticed this. In regards to the slop, they and I have found the opposite of what the manual says about steering slop to work. Remove all spacers which are between the screw head and the bearings on the steering plate, and put spacers (same ones as what you use between the wheel hex and bearing on the uprights) between the steering posts and the upper chassis plate.

I remember if you superglue the steering plate bearings in place, that takes out some slop too. (axle shims as Burlap said helps too) Just too bad as I was looking at this.. I noticed my MSX steering plate is cracked!! I guess I won't be testing out the final drive reduction unless if I can get a spare here before Saturday.... Looks like I may have to order an aftermarket one. Oh well.. plan B.. EvoIV.... Hmmm wait a sec.. I could always try the 18t pulley with 415 diff gears in my TA05...

Think your drive shaft is a little short...Should get longer ones.

I've been racing a similar setup since january. How ? I had 18T alloy pulleys made up, and got longer belts from my bando distributor (we have an agreement, he he). Admittedly the pulley is a tad on the heavy side, but I have been using the same set of belts/pulleys since january with nearly NO WEAR on either of them. I have to add that with the original fixed centre pulley and the white belts, I was having a lot of issues with the pulley wearing very fast, and the belts loosing teeth and breaking (front one, using a spool). I'm yet to try the TA05 pulleys, because I'm not happy with the one way pulley being centered by the screws.

Bow on the track, I find that drivetrain to be very smooth and efficient. I'm gonna stick to it, and if you tell me that Tech Racing makes a 18T centre pulley kit that fits the car, as soon as i'm going to run out of pulleys i'll get that (i.e. since my first pulley is 4 months old and not worn out yet, i'm probly gonna have to wait till next year before i run out of pulleys, lol).

Also notice, TryHard's got a set of pulley/belts since march and hasn't tried it yet, what is he waiting for ?

Most likely you have the standard 415 which comes with 42mm bones and needed longer outdrives cups on the front. The shooters spool is for the MS/MSX so you will need the 46mm bones on the front to get it to fit.

This movement doesn't affect the wheels that much. As long as your steering crankshafts don't move up and down too much (especially the one on which the servo link is connected) then i wouldn't worry too much about it.

you could get the MS shock towers that will raise your shocks a few mm and sort your problem out. Or cheaper solution but depending on how much lower you need to get it might not work, get the new aluminium springs retainers that makes your springs sit 1mm lower ref 53876.
