One thing that I have noticed is the variation of quality from CVD to CVD. I've noticed some have CVDs that have a notchy feeling when you pivot them at a certain angle. I've also noticed other CVDs that aren't notchy at all, they spin free even at full steering lock.
Ok let's put it this way : Why the heck did Team Losi went into great lengths to develop a driveshaft joint that reduces chatter, if the actual joints are real CVD and spin free and at constant velocity ? I'm telling you, all actual RC design driveshafts are not constant velocity drive and thus do not deserve to be called CVD.

The only problem is that no one has been able to make constant velocity driveshafts for RC cars, not to a reasonable cost and weight anyway.

Good for you you don't have chatter, still when i go from a spool to a one way i feel a huge difference in mid corner steering.

I'm not doubting you regarding the CVDs. I'm just stating that there are different degrees of chatter. Don't know if it's set-up or what but at our track we don't have any noticable chatter. The point I'm trying to make is that the chatter can some how be decreased.

Yes, you can decrease it, a delrin spool helps because it allows some degrees of twisting, but on high grip carpet spool is definately not the quickest option, one way is miles quicker. Also, keep the driveshafts in good condition : change the crossjoints regularly, make sure they are lubed, etc.. all these little details can make a difference.

Not sure if a one-way is a lot quicker. I think it depends on your set-up. With a spool you can drive a lot more agressive. It also makes your car more consistant. When you race on a tight indoor track with traffic, consistent is a good thing. Up until 2-3 months ago I hated spools and prefered one-ways then I decided to give the spool another try. All I'm trying to say is don't rule out the spool as a tuning option.

Thanks for pointing that out. I thought I was the only one (probably there's more than you & me) have had thought of that way of adjusting the rear diff w/out removing it from the bulkheads. The difference w/ my 415, is that my upper links are connected to the F/R shock towers (orig 415 towers) and uses the the inner linkages based from the TRF414M & EVO3 set-up. I don't need to pop the ballcup, I just lossen up the screws or just the remove the outer hinge pin via the e-clips (standard arms) or hinge pin (screw type/set screw) light weight rev arms. I also did the same thing when I installed the MS conv kit on my 415 & kept the same linkage set-up which are directly screwed into the bulkhead. For the rear bulkhead though, I had to attach the said linkage on the alum rear upright. Here are some pics from the TRF414M II & TB EVO III SE to give you an idea what I did to the linkages on my 415.

those are torque rods; somewhat popular and hated on 414 variant and 04

If you're asking about the 2nd pic I posted, it's a torque rod that's connected to front C-hubs. The purpose for it & I'm just guessing it, it's probably to support the front C-hubs against frontal impacts especially when the wheels are in a turning position & also probably to give a more precise steering response with less slop. But as I said it's just a guess & I eventually took it off my 414M when they came out w/ the hard front upright.

At the reply portion section Carl, goto to ADDITIONAL OPTIONS & click on Manage Attachments. You'll be able to upload from your MAC & will post when you hit the Submit Reply button.

Right click on the picture and go to properties, then change the resolution and quality to low, so you can bring the amount of memory used to display the picture, right now you are at 1,690 KB and like it says maximum is 294 KB.
Play with the properties until it accepts the picture in the attachment.
