Default TRF415 Lipo conversion

Hy there!

After some re(google)search, i found the part numbers from the MSXX Stick pack conversion set that i needed to make my 415 a little more Lipo friendly.

Still there i used the bittydesign tray for the 415, and now i can put my battery in without, or with the Evo5 Lipo tray from bittydesign wich have not so much offset.

After atachning the new parts i slightly have to gind the rear bulkhead and the upper brace to get enough clearance even for the High capacity Lipos out there

And here is the result! I am very pleased now with the car.

The Topdeck wich is installed is the original MSXX MRE 07 Deck with modifications (416 Style Steering)

I found a new 415msx for sale and was wondering how it compared to current model TC's. I currently have an original xray T2. I am new to TC and don't want to buy something that I am going to get frustrated with. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Chris

There were a LOT of changes from the MSX to the last 415MSXX MRE. Pretty much the entire steering system and suspension block settings were changed, along with the rear bulkhead connections center layshaft and motor mount.

With the new 416 came a complete re-do of the entire suspension system. Different arms, c-hubs and uprgiths all around with larger bearings and different axles. The arms are shorter and require different suspension mounts and thinner hex hubs to follow current setups.

So your saying that it's pretty outdated, huh. Would I still be able to get parts if I need to?

I may still get it if I can get it for cheap enough.

Thanks
Chris

Cool

WOW! Glad to see activity on this thread. I just picked up a used 415msx & I'm getting it ready for the summer asphalt racing here. So far, the only thing I'm not crazy about is that my Kershaaw Designs 5000 hard case lipo won't go in the car like I want. But I've got it in there to where I think it'll be balanced. We'll see.

I had a Msx up until recently when i purchased a 416we but i still feel that my 415 was a better car and kick myself sometimes when i dont have a car that handles quite like it.

I changed to the short arms, didnt change c-hubs or anything just ran the wider blocks D-D F 1XA-D R and once i did that i was the best car i had ever driven and competitive.

Depends on your budget, yer the latest and greatest is going to cost more but may not always be the fastest..

so depending on your budget the 415msx with a set of short arms, i also had the rheinard steering was a competitive car

Parts still heaps that i see are still available, items like arms, c-hubs, blocks, belts, bearings, the general wearing parts are stillout there and interchangable (some) with the later cars so no issues.

I nearly bought a new 415MRE a couple of weeks ago but couldnt scrape up the $$$

Thanks. I race about every other weekend and cant see spend $500 right now on a kit. I dont think it would make me any faster. Practice and a good set up would do that. I would love to get a 416x but my budget doesnt allow it. So I will see how this plays out.

I have been racing my 415MSX for almost 1 year now. Quite happy with it. Spares? well just wait for another to go on ebay. C hubs, suspension arms and knuckles can be easily sourced online.

I believe the 415MSX came out in 2005. You already have the T2. I would just save up for something like a MSXX MRE or a later version of the T2. I have the MSXX MRE as well but it is not built up yet as I am happy with the MSX.

Okay........Can anybody explain to me why the MSXX MRE chassis 9404808 is the only Tamiya chassis plate that does not have the pre-drilled holes for the TA05 ver-2 split blocks up front?!?!?!?

This just ruined my plans for moving to short arms as I do NOT want to run an inverted 1C block...

I wouldn't mind trading for a new MSXX chassis (the thinner 2.25mm one)...

My MRE Chassis is new with freshly sanded edges. Cell slots have been sanded to match an Intellect 3800/35C lipo...

I thought the MSXX MRE chassis 9404808 is 2mm thick?

What is the part number for this 2.25mm thick chassis?
