VTA on VF1
[QUOTE=Team Lotus;11933651]
Thank you for posting these pics! I agree that the 103 front arms look more like the 60's style than the 104. My question is that you said with the 104 front end that the axle nuts barely thread on and require special nuts. So, with the 103 or the 3 Racing front end is it any better? I would like to use the 103 front arms painted silver to look more real, so should I use the FGX hubs with it? Do they just fit by themselves, or do I have to alter them to work? I guess I need a little more detailed explanation of how to do this.
You could use the 104 front end with the VTA wheels and "regular" wheel nuts but the width would be pretty narrow. The 103 type is all stock stuff. the ends of the axles sitck out a bit but a Dremel cut off wheel will take care of that!
I think I found an even more "period correct" front end and have it on order. I'll fill you in when I know more.
I'll post more pix and explainations of what I did on the front later...

The camel livery looks great and the chassis looks very clean.
My second Ver.II and the new 2012 body are on the way to me, I've ordered the new dark titanium version. The kit costs as much as the regular F104Ver.II, but it's got the body, alu motor mount and rear carbon motor mount plate included. I will be saving at least 80$ for the hopup parts, body set and shipping.
Look forward to build it, this will be equipped with a cirtix stock club esc and a speedpassion V3 21.5T motor.
Too bad i'm unable to create an account on F1paintlab as they won't ship to belgium cause i really would like to buy some decals for the new body set.

touch
Nice...the Camel colour scheme was one I'd been thinking about and looks really good on a modern F1 shell. As much as I like my 2012/2013 black, gold and red Lotus my next shell wll be a copy of this one.
The wings and yellow wheel rims are a great finishing touch. Assume that is a Nakajima helmet design too.

As for the helmets, that is indeed a modified Nakjima. The original decal was designed to wrap around the open faced helmet, and since I was using a modern helmet, and the decal wasn't wrapping correctly, I made my own red stripes.
While I was at it, I also made a Kimi helmet for days when we have liquid lunches.
Then there's your team mate's...
